The draw for the doubles (men, women, mixed) and singles (men, women) badminton events at the 33rd SEA Games took place on December 10th. Accordingly, Nguyen Thuy Linh's ( world No. 22) opponent in the women's singles event has been determined. Vietnam's number one female badminton player will face Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi (Indonesia, world No. 82).
Nguyen Thuy Linh is the 4th seed.
In this event, Thùy Linh is the 4th seed. The Vietnamese athlete is considered stronger than her Indonesian opponent. Speaking to Thanh Niên newspaper, the head coach of the Vietnamese badminton team, Ngô Trung Dũng, said that Thùy Linh has a good chance of winning and advancing to the next round, as the 1997-born player has a higher skill level and more experience than her opponent.
The aforementioned doubles and singles events started at 10 a.m. Nguyen Thuy Linh took to the court at 12 p.m.

Besides Thuy Linh, the women's singles event also features veteran player Nguyen Thi Trang. Nguyen Tien Minh's wife will face a very strong opponent, Supanida Katethong (seed number 3, world number 12) at 10:30 AM.
In the men's individual event, Le Duc Phat will face Indonesian player Zaki Ubaidillah (world No. 48) at 12 PM. Meanwhile, Nguyen Hai Dang will also compete against Indonesian player Alwi Farhan (seed No. 2, world No. 17) at 1 PM.

In the women's doubles, there were two pairs of athletes competing: Pham Thi Dieu Ly - Pham Thi Khanh, and Bui Bich Phuong - Vu Thi Trang. Unfortunately, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy suffered an injury before the team event (December 6th) and did not recover in time. Therefore, the coaching staff had to bring in Vu Thi Trang as a replacement.
The pair Dieu Ly - Pham Thi Khanh will face Ngar Myar - Eaint Chit Phoo (Myanmar) at 2 PM. Bich Phuong - Vu Thi Trang will clash with the strong pair from Thailand, Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn - Sukitta Suwachai (seed number 3), at 3 PM.
Earlier, in the team event which started on December 7th, the Vietnamese women's badminton team was eliminated early after losing to Malaysia 1-3. Nguyen Thuy Linh was the first and only player to win, defeating the number one player of the Malaysian women's team, Karupathevan Letshanaa.
