On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the first issue of Thanh Nien Newspaper (January 3, 1986 - January 3, 2026) - a milestone marking the birth of one of Vietnam's leading and most prestigious newspapers - on the morning of December 10th at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Thanh Nien Books officially launched its book collection, beginning its mission to develop reading culture and expand access to knowledge for the community.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of the Thanh Nien Books library, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union and Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, said: " Thanh Nien Books is the result of a dedicated process stemming from meaningful programs, outstanding competitions, and many remarkable activities of Thanh Nien Newspaper; and through Thanh Nien Books , we hope to contribute to nurturing self-learning abilities and equipping ourselves with knowledge to adapt to change; supporting the creative ecosystem of authors, editors, translators, designers, publishers, and distributors."

"The effort to build and launch the Youth Library is an activity that embodies both cultural spirit and the newspaper's responsibility in implementing the Party and State's policy on developing reading culture, most recently the Project on developing reading culture in the community until 2020, with a vision to 2030, which has been approved by the Prime Minister ," affirmed the Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper.
Immediately following his heartfelt speech at the Thanh Nien Books bookshelf, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, along with the guests, performed the ceremony of placing five newly published works on the shelves: "Living Beautifully - The Miracle of Compassion"; "Continuing Life with Your Child"; "The City I Love"; and "Anthology of Excellent Short Stories from Thanh Nien Newspaper" and "Vietnamese Aspirations" . These are the first building blocks that lay the foundation for Thanh Nien Books to begin its journey of building a knowledge base, connecting and spreading reading culture to the community.
YOUTH BOOKS ADD A NEW "BRIDGE" WITH BOOKS
Thus, from December 10th, the Vietnamese book market has another brand with a youthful spirit - Thanh Nien Books . The launch of a book brand by Thanh Nien newspaper, a publication for young people, has received enthusiastic support from readers, government agencies, and publishing and distribution units.

Speaking at the book launch event themed "Spreading Reading Culture in the Digital Age," writer and Ho Chi Minh City's reading culture ambassador, Nguyen Nhat Anh, said: "From ancient times, our ancestors loved reading and writing, which is why we have such a treasure trove of folk songs, proverbs, and fairy tales. As a writer, I always support buying, printing, and distributing books, and now with the addition of the Thanh Nien Books book collection, it's wonderful, especially since it's being implemented by a large multi-media organization like Thanh Nien Newspaper. Our press, in its role of providing information, sees its works easily lost over time. Now, with this book collection, we can select and preserve excellent articles, printing them as books. This will make the spread even stronger, imbued with humanistic values and inspiring reading in every home, so that every family, relative, parent, and sibling can become a reading culture ambassador, setting an example for their children and grandchildren; thus forming good habits and fostering a love of reading…"
Sharing her own story, Miss Luong Thuy Linh said: "Actually, the love of reading or being passionate about books often starts from a practical need. For example, I'm a dreamy, romantic girl, and during high school, studying was too stressful, so whenever I felt stressed, I turned to books. I escaped the confines of the stuffy classroom walls to explore peaceful, lovely places, like ' I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass ' by Nguyen Nhat Anh, for instance. Sometimes, while reading, I imagine myself as one of the beautiful characters in the book. I love it."

Journalist and reading culture ambassador of Ho Chi Minh City, Le Hoang, highly praised the creation of the book collection "with its own unique identity of Thanh Nien newspaper". He suggested that, in addition to the traditional method, the newspaper's editorial board should explore more ways to distribute books to school libraries, family book collections, cultural neighborhood book collections, etc., helping to form a reading habit for all ages, especially young people.

Simply because I loved reading books when I was young. Whenever I saw a book that I found really good, I wished I could write like that when I grew up. I even thought that writers must have a really big head, or at least two heads, to hold all the words. I was so naive. Ask yourself, no one in this profession or as a journalist doesn't love books and enjoy reading. Therefore, Thanh Nien Books was created to meet these real reading needs."
