The contract was signed in August 2025. O Mon 4 Plant, with a designed capacity of 1,155 MW, is invested by the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group.
The groundbreaking ceremony of O Mon 4 Factory was held at the end of August in Can Tho City, officially marking the beginning of the construction phase. The factory is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2028.
When put into commercial operation, the plant will contribute to providing a stable power source for the Mekong Delta region, while increasing Petrovietnam 's total installed capacity to more than 9,300 MW, equivalent to about 10% of the total capacity of the entire national power system.
This is a component project in the Block B - O Mon gas - power project chain, a key national project to enhance energy security and promote the energy transition in Vietnam.
This is the first time Mitsubishi Power has deployed JAC technology in Vietnam by supplying two JAC turbines for the project. JAC is a large-scale gas turbine with world-class efficiency, with combined cycle efficiency reaching over 64% and reliability proven over more than 3 million operating hours.
