Musician Vu Ngoc Dam won A prize for composing about Hanoi.

On the afternoon of September 26, the Organizing Committee of the songwriting contest "Thanh am Ha Noi " held an event to announce the awards. The contest aims to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). Author Vu Ngoc Dam won a double including the A Prize and the Sponsor's Prize for the work "Ha Noi in the season of love" for which he composed both the music and lyrics.

Also winning the A Prize in the "Hanoi Sound" contest were the following works: "Hanoi in the season of leaves" - Music and lyrics: Dinh Nghi, "Hanoi, the capital I love" - Music and lyrics: Meritorious Artist Thuy My, "Hanoi's sacred soul" - Music: Quang Huy; Poetry: Ngo Xuan Binh and "Hanoi... day... month... year" - Music and lyrics: Ta Duy Tuan.

Although born and raised in Hung Yen , Vu Ngoc Dam has had very good memories of Hanoi since he was very young. His father took him to Hanoi whenever he had work there, so since he was little he wanted to study, work and live in Hanoi when he grew up.

"The image of my father taking me for a walk, going to Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake... is deeply imprinted in my memory. That is why I want to save beautiful moments, my own lyrics or melodies to give to Hanoi, to give to my loved ones. I am extremely happy when "Hanoi in the season of love" won the highest prize in the Thanh am Ha Noi songwriting contest. It is not only an achievement but also a great source of encouragement for me to continue pursuing my passion for composing", Vu Ngoc Dam shared.

"Hanoi in the season of love" was written by Vu Ngoc Dam in the style of Blues Jazz. He wanted to bring a fresh atmosphere but still depict the special beauty of Hanoi. The author depicts the beauty of Hanoi through the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, each season has its own distinct nuances, from the gentle spring breezes to the charming autumn sunsets.

Vu Ngoc Dam graduated from the Faculty of Music Education at Hanoi National University of Education. He has many songs used in professional music competitions and live broadcasts such as: Cho tinh hoa ban, Loi ru que me, Noi tuoi tho con ve. Notably, the song Tay Bac gui ve anh was used in the final night of Sao Mai 2022 competition performed by Le Thi Minh Ngoc and won the championship.
