The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice in Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of England and Wales. Temperatures are forecast to drop to -15 degrees Celsius in Scotland, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is maintaining an amber health alert across the UK until midday on 19 January, warning that cold weather could affect people's health. UKHSA expert Agostinho Sousa said that this week's low temperatures could increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes and respiratory infections, especially for people over 65 or those with underlying health conditions.
