General Secretary To Lam departs for an official visit to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

At the invitation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on October 28, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, departed from Hanoi for an official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from October 28 to 30.

The official delegation included: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Nguyen Hoa Binh , Member of the Political Bureau, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Political Bureau, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Political Bureau, Minister of Public Security; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Pham Gia Tuc, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Chief of the Central Party Office; Dao Ngoc Dung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religion; Doan Hong Phong, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Inspector General of the Government; Nguyen Van Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Finance; Nguyen Manh Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Science and Technology; Nguyen Kim Son, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Education and Training; Nguyen Thi Hong, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.

Also joining the delegation were comrades: To An Xo, Assistant to the General Secretary, in charge of the General Secretary's Office; and Do Minh Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

Vietnam and the United Kingdom established diplomatic relations on September 11, 1973, making Britain one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam. Over the past half-century, the friendship and close ties between the people of the two countries have been continuously strengthened and developed.

In particular, the official visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland coincides with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-United Kingdom Strategic Partnership (2010-2025). This is an important milestone for the two countries to look back on their cooperation, assess outstanding achievements, and set out a new vision and direction for the development of bilateral relations in the coming period.
