From December 8-10, a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique, led by Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin, visited and worked in Gaza province, southern Mozambique.
During her working visit, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin met with Governor Margarida Chongo, Chairman of the Provincial Council José Tsambe Reeleito, and leaders of various departments in Gaza Province.
During the meeting with Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin, Governor of Gaza Province Margarida Chongo expressed hope that this visit by the delegation of Vietnamese Embassy officials would open up many opportunities for cooperation between Vietnamese partners and Gaza Province in priority areas and strengths of the province such as agriculture , aquaculture, livestock farming, agricultural product processing, and mineral exploitation.
Sharing her thoughts on her visit to Vietnam last May, Gaza Governor Margarida Chongo was impressed by Vietnam's socio -economic development achievements in recent years; she assessed Vietnam as a country with a dynamic economy, a developing consumer market, and a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia for agricultural and aquatic products from Gaza province.
According to the Governor of Gaza Province, Vietnam's expertise and experience in agriculture, aquaculture, manufacturing, and information technology are a great source of inspiration for Gaza Province in particular and Mozambique in general.

The Governor of Gaza Province emphasized that Movitel's success in Mozambique is a vivid testament to the good, practical, and effective cooperation between the two countries, and expressed his readiness to support and promote the replication of similar mutually beneficial cooperation models in Gaza Province in the future.
Expressing her admiration for the abundant development potential of Gaza Province, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin stated that Gaza is a "red address" – the birthplace of the President of the Mozambique Liberation Front Party, Eduardo Mondlane, and the late President Samora Machel – two of Mozambique's first revolutionary leaders and close friends of the Vietnamese leadership and people. Gaza has diverse topography and soil characteristics, with many similarities to Vietnam's natural conditions. These are the reasons why the Ambassador chose Gaza as the first place to visit and work in during her term in Mozambique.

Emphasizing the traditional solidarity and close cooperation between Vietnam and Mozambique over the past half-century, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin expressed her hope that, in the future, Governor Margarida Chongo and the provincial authorities would create favorable conditions for investment and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises in the area and actively support mutually beneficial cooperation initiatives and projects between the two sides.
According to Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin, the two sides can enhance the exchange of experience in areas where Vietnam has strengths and Gaza has potential, such as agriculture, livestock farming, and aquaculture.
During her working visit to Gaza Province, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin and the Governor of Gaza Province co-chaired the Vietnam Trade and Investment Promotion Workshop in Gaza Province, with the participation of over 100 delegates.

During their visit to Gaza Province, the delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy also visited the memorial site of the late President Samora Machel of Mozambique. On this occasion, Ambassador Tran Thu Thin presented the late President's family with some documentary images showcasing the close relationship between the late President Samora Machel and Vietnam, and planted a commemorative tree at the memorial site. The delegation also visited and worked with the staff of the Movitel branch in Gaza Province; and met with some Vietnamese people working in the province.
Gaza Province, located in southern Mozambique, covers an area of approximately 76,000 km² and has a population of nearly 1.5 million. Saisai, the provincial capital, is situated 210 km from Maputo. Gaza is known for its potential in agriculture, livestock farming, aquaculture, mineral extraction, and tourism. Approximately 90% of the province's working-age population is employed in agriculture. The province has relatively good transportation infrastructure, with a system of national and inter-provincial roads, a seaport, an airport, and a railway.
