Up to now, Muong Nhe district has organized the review, election and recognition of 116 prestigious people among the ethnic minorities in the district. In general, the prestigious people who have been recognized all have good attitudes, ideological stances, are exemplary, actively participate in propaganda and mobilization activities, and are shining examples for everyone to follow. Mr. Hu Cha Thai, Nam Sin village, Chung Chai commune, Muong Nhe district is one of those typical examples. Mr. Hu Cha Thai himself always actively works in production to increase his family's income, while creating conditions and supporting households in the village to exchange and apply scientific and technical advances in effective crop and livestock production such as: new high-yield corn and rice varieties, forest protection, fruit tree planting, industrial tree and timber tree development, etc. to develop the household economy and escape poverty sustainably. Up to now, Mr. Thai has a business model of raising livestock, poultry and aquatic products with an income of 150 million VND/year. Not only is he good at economic development, Mr. Thai is also a shining example in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws.
Mr. Hu Cha Thai confided: I always try to set an example, take the lead in activities such as: Mobilizing people to borrow capital to develop production, build a civilized lifestyle in weddings and festivals; eliminating bad customs, propagating policies and laws related to ethnic affairs, promoting the spirit of solidarity among ethnic groups. Especially propagating policies that ethnic groups enjoy; propagating and mobilizing ethnic minorities to apply science and technology in production, to rise up from poverty and enrich themselves legitimately on their homeland; participating in contributing money and donating land; mobilizing descendants in the clan to preserve and promote the national cultural identity... Thanks to that, for many years in a row, there have been no violations of the law in the area, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved.
In Dien Bien district, in recent times, the village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in the area have continued to set good examples and become active factors in emulation movements. At the same time, they themselves have promoted the spirit of self-reliance, overcoming difficulties in labor and production to develop the family economy. Therefore, they are always trusted, respected and trusted by the people. Mr. Vi Van Lam - a prestigious person in Ca Phe village, Sam Mun commune, Dien Bien district is also such a person. In his role, he always promotes the spirit of responsibility to mobilize people to change their way of thinking and doing business. In particular, with the motto of wanting people to agree and believe, first of all, he and his family must be pioneers. Therefore, he is always exemplary in developing the family economy. His economic model is the clearest proof. More than 2 hectares of garden, previously his family grew sticky corn, however, realizing that the economic value of growing corn was not high, in 2013 Mr. Lam boldly converted 1 hectare to grow fruit trees. With trees such as: Apple, grapefruit, dragon fruit... by 2022, he continued to invest in growing more squash. This economic model has brought his family a stable income of nearly 200 million VND per year. Seeing Mr. Lam's effective economic model, many households in the village also followed suit.
According to information from the Provincial Ethnic Committee, in 2024, the whole province recognized 1,251 prestigious people, an increase of 7 people compared to 2023. This team has the participation of many different components such as: 287 village elders; 125 clan leaders; 134 village and hamlet chiefs and equivalents; 13 religious dignitaries; 16 shamans, sorcerers, and traditional healers; 482 party members; 488 other components... These are the "pioneers, doers" so that people can see the results, trust and then follow.
Mr. Vu Van Cong, Deputy Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee, said: Prestigious people all have in common the exemplary, enthusiastic, and dedicated nature of the community's work. They are people who "can do what they say", so their propaganda and mobilization work is very important, convincing, and builds trust with the Party Committee, government, mass organizations, and local people... Thanks to the active contributions of this team, in recent times, the implementation of programs, projects, and poverty reduction policies in the province has received high consensus, bringing about many positive results, contributing to changing the face of ethnic minority areas throughout the province.
Firstly, they are typical examples in propaganda and mobilization of people to participate in socio-economic development, preserve and promote traditional cultural identity, build new rural areas, maintain security and order at the grassroots level... Their voices in propaganda and mobilization have helped people clearly perceive the plots and tricks of "peaceful evolution" of hostile forces, not to be vague or subjective; and to raise vigilance. In the economic field, this team has propagated and mobilized people to participate in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, actively transform crop and livestock structure, and apply scientific and technological advances in production. In implementing the new rural construction program, this role is more clearly demonstrated in practice, specifically: Mobilizing people to participate in infrastructure construction, with the motto "State and People work together", contributing to effectively mobilizing resources from people to build welfare and public works such as schools, classrooms, cultural houses, canals, irrigation dams, repairing and upgrading inter-village and inter-commune roads... Prestigious people always play an active role in mobilizing people to well implement local regulations, specifically in village and hamlet conventions, preserving national cultural values; eliminating bad customs, actively participating with people in preventing social evils, drug crimes, illegal border crossing activities... Thereby contributing to raising people's awareness of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, having a sense of self-consciousness and participating in common activities of the community...
