Nikon launches ZR camera series aimed at professional filmmakers

Nikon has just announced the ZR full-frame camera model with many technical upgrades, opening the plan to enter the cinema camera market in Vietnam.

Nikon Vietnam recently held the “Born Cinematic” event in Ho Chi Minh City, announcing the official appearance of the Nikon ZR - the first full-frame camera model in the company’s Cinema Cam mera line. The event attracted more than 500 attendees, including filmmakers, photographers and the domestic imaging technology industry.

Nikon ZR was first introduced to the international market in September 2025 and quickly received great attention from the filmmaking community. This is a product developed by Nikon in cooperation with RED Digital Cinema, equipped with RED R3D NE codec, more than 15 stops of dynamic contrast range, Dual Base ISO 800 and 6400 and 6K/60p internal recording capability. With these parameters, ZR is positioned as a tool aimed at professional filmmakers, but has a more compact design than traditional cinema cameras.

In Vietnam, Nikon ZR is officially sold at a listed price of 61.99 million VND. Nikon also announced a limited pre-order program, applying a preferential price of 59.99 million VND for the first users. According to a representative of Nikon Vietnam, this is a move to encourage the domestic creative community to access professional filming technology at a more competitive cost.

The product possesses many outstanding features such as 6K RAW recording at 60 frames/second, 32-bit float recording, a 4-inch tilting screen that supports the DCI-P3 color gamut and a fanless cooling system that reduces noise when recording. These factors show Nikon's direction in expanding from photography to the cinema field, where standards of image quality and video processing capabilities are placed on top.

The “Born Cinematic” event is not only a product launch event but also an opportunity for Nikon to connect and share experiences between creators. The company emphasizes its desire to accompany Vietnamese filmmakers in exploiting the full potential of modern imaging technology.
