At 5:00 p.m. on November 9, Khanh Hoa province authorities detonated a dangerous rock on Cu Hin Pass, part of Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue connecting Nha Trang City with Cam Ranh Airport.

After more than a day and night of construction, at exactly 5:00 p.m. the same day, the construction unit activated the detonation of the "hanging" rock block on Cu Hin Pass (in Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province). The rock breaking was successfully carried out according to plan, ensuring safety and complying with technical requirements.

After the mine exploded, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Transport, Nha Trang City People's Committee and related units quickly cleared rocks and soil to ensure safe traffic for vehicles passing through the pass.

Previously, to handle the potential danger caused by a rock block weighing tens of tons lying on a thin layer of soil at a height of 30m, Nha Trang City People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Khanh Hoa Province to quickly complete legal procedures, allowing the use of explosives to prevent the risk of landslides, ensuring safety for the area.

The construction unit drilled 13 holes to place explosives.

Mr. Quach Tan Binh, Deputy Director of the South Central Mining Chemical Industry Company, said that after a field survey, the technical team discovered that this part of the rock was deeply embedded in a large rock block. To ensure safety and limit environmental impact, the technical department decided to use differential drilling and blasting techniques with a strictly controlled amount of explosives.

During the process, the team arranged protective barriers and blast wave directions to minimize vibrations, ensuring no impact on neighboring structures and slopes.

"From 12:30 to 16:00, the technical team completed drilling and loading explosives on schedule. By 17:00, the area was safely sealed off and detonated. The entire process was carefully checked, ensuring progress and efficiency as planned. The timely handling of the dangerous rock mass on Cu Hin Pass contributed to protecting traffic safety in the area, especially in the context of prolonged heavy rain," said Mr. Binh.

Cu Hin Pass connects Nha Trang City and Cam Ranh Airport.

As reported by Giao thong Newspaper, recently, many drivers passing through Cu Hin pass at Km 12+00 were scared when they saw a rock weighing tons lying precariously on the side of a mountain cliff.

The relevant units then inspected the scene and held a meeting but could not agree on the optimal solution.

Late in the afternoon of November 8, Khanh Hoa Province Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh directed urgent handling of the rock mass and landslide-prone areas on Cu Hin Pass, on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (connecting Nha Trang City to Cam Ranh Airport) within 24 hours.

Cu Hin Pass is about 8km long, belonging to Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue. This is a beautiful tourist route of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.

On Cu Hin Pass, there are often many types of vehicles carrying people and domestic and foreign tourists day and night between Nha Trang City and tourist areas in Bai Dai, North Cam Ranh Peninsula and Cam Ranh Airport.

Previously, whenever there was prolonged heavy rain, landslides occurred on Cu Hin pass, causing traffic jams.
