According to sources in England, Ratcliffe has asked the Manchester United board to find a capable external partner to handle the entire catering aspect, from luxurious reception rooms to stadium food outlets. The main goal is to optimize operating costs as Manchester United undergoes a comprehensive review of its operations.
Manchester United are in negotiations with Levy, a unit of the Compass Group, for a multi-million pound deal. If an agreement is reached, the two parties will collaborate on a profit-sharing model, with the possibility of adjusting the menu to better suit the new business strategy.
However, the plan has also caused concern among some service staff. Some catering workers have expressed worries that outsourcing could impact their jobs, although the club's management insists that legal regulations will ensure the rights and employment of current staff.
A source from Old Trafford emphasized: "This isn't about cutting staff, but about evaluating which service model is best suited for the club and the fans. Manchester United is currently one of only two teams in the Premier League that still operates its own catering business, so considering outsourcing makes sense."
The move immediately drew attention as many worried that iconic items familiar in upscale establishments – including the prawn sandwich – might disappear from menus.
