As one of the typical examples of ethnic minority farmers doing well economically in the province, Mr. Giang is currently the owner of a large-scale production farm, bringing outstanding economic efficiency with an income of about 10 billion VND/year before deducting expenses.
Diversified economic models
Mr. Giang said: With the attention of the Farmers' Association of the district, commune and authorities at all levels, I participated in training courses on science and technology transfer in cultivation and animal husbandry. From there, I have gained knowledge about crops and animals, and applied technical advances to production with high efficiency. The awards from all levels from the central to local levels in recent years for my achievements as a good farmer in production and business are the motivation for me to try harder every day.
Growing rubber since 2000, Mr. Giang's family currently has about 60 hectares of rubber, including 17 hectares of young rubber. His family also has 4 hectares of old cashew trees that will be liquidated after this year's harvest to continue growing rubber.
Mr. Lam Van Giang (left cover) shares about rubber latex care and exploitation techniques.
Applying advanced farming techniques and modern machinery has helped Mr. Giang optimize production costs, reduce labor, increase productivity and product quality. The rubber gardens have been harvested for 25 years, but he always knows how to apply care techniques to obtain the best quality latex.
Not only does his family have income from crops, he also owns a closed-loop pig farm with a capacity of 1,000 pigs per litter. Mr. Giang shared: Realizing that the cost of investing in fertilizer to care for the garden each year is very high, I decided to raise pigs with the aim of both earning extra income and using waste from the pigs to fertilize the rubber garden.
With a diverse economic model, Mr. Giang's family farm creates jobs for about 25 seasonal and regular workers, with an income of 8-10 million VND/person/month.
For the community
Not only is he good at economics, Mr. Giang also actively supports disadvantaged households with production and livestock experience, loans, agricultural materials and technology transfer with an amount of 200-300 million VND/year.
Starting from a difficult background, when the economy improved, Mr. Giang turned to the community. He enthusiastically participated in local socialization campaigns such as building rural roads, supporting disadvantaged families, poor and near-poor households, etc. "Although I am in my twilight years, I will always try to contribute my part to make my family and society better," Mr. Giang said.
As one of the local households that Mr. Giang lent rubber garden land to raise ducks and supported with farming techniques, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh in Cha Lon hamlet shared: Mr. Giang supported my family a lot. He is knowledgeable about farming techniques so he gave detailed instructions and especially introduced sources of feed and output so that duck farming is stable.
Not only developing the family economy and being active in social movements in the area , Mr. Giang (right) also supports loans, provides technical guidance and introduces agricultural output to local households .
Nguyen Thi Pho, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Minh Duc Commune, said: In the locality, Mr. Giang is one of the hard-working and studious farmer members. From a household with economic difficulties, Mr. Giang has now become a good farmer and businessman at the central level, and has attended many major conferences. In addition to helping poor households with loans, Mr. Giang also transfers science and technology to surrounding families and is willing to share and guide local farmers in agricultural experience.
Mr. Hoang Van Toan, Vice Chairman of Minh Duc Commune People's Committee emphasized: Mr. Giang being recognized by all levels is an honor for the locality. Joining hands with the locality in socio-economic development, in recent times, thanks to the contributions of Mr. Giang and local households, red dirt roads have been hardened, asphalted, and concreted, helping people to travel conveniently and improving their quality of life.
In 2015, Mr. Lam Van Giang was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President; in 2022, he was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement of farmers in production and good business; in 2024, he was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for his outstanding achievements in labor, production and new rural construction, contributing to building a strong peasant class and the Vietnam Farmers' Union, with the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer". |
