Having entered the Vietnamese ice cream market very early in 2003, after more than 20 years of development, Kido Foods has become the number one company in the ice cream production and trading sector in Vietnam and has consistently held the top position for many years.
According to Euromonitor statistics, Kido Foods' sales have grown impressively year after year, holding over 40% of the market share from 2019 to the present, despite fierce competition from many major domestic and international players.
According to Euromonitor data, in 2023, Kido Foods continued to lead the entire ice cream industry, holding a 46.7% market share. Specifically, Merino and Celano alone accounted for 25.9% and 19.6% of the market share respectively, higher than the combined market share of the second and third-ranked ice cream companies.
A smart strategy, a good understanding of consumer preferences, and effective business operations helped Kido Foods forge a new chapter when Nutifood, Vietnam's leading nutrition company, decided to invest and acquire a 51% stake in the business.
Currently, Kido Foods owns two modern processing plants with advanced technology and machinery entirely imported from Europe and Japan, located in the South and North of Vietnam (Cu Chi - Ho Chi Minh City and VSIP - Bac Ninh ) to meet the ice cream supply needs of the entire market. Besides ice cream, the company has also made its mark with various types of delicious, high-quality, nutritious, and healthy yogurts.
Diversifying Nutifood's nutritional ecosystem
Sharing the reasons for investing in Kido Foods, Mr. Tran Bao Minh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nutifood, said: “Investing in Kido Foods allows Nutifood to expand its business from healthy nutrition to products that cater to the needs of delicious meals, bringing joy to family members. At the same time, this ‘deal’ also allows Nutifood to own a distribution system for frozen food with hundreds of thousands of ice cream freezers covering a wide range of retail outlets, from traditional and modern retail to restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues nationwide. This is also a necessary foundation to help Nutifood expand into the frozen food sector quickly and effectively.”
Founded by doctors and nutritionists, Nutifood has strived for over 20 years to bring the best nutritional practices from Vietnam and around the world to serve the health of Vietnamese consumers. In addition to establishing the Ho Chi Minh City Nutrition Research Center (NRI), Nutifood has also invested in and built the Nutifood Sweden Nutrition Research Institute (NNRIS) – a place that brings together a team of world-leading experts to embrace the most advanced nutritional technologies and solutions for Vietnamese children in particular and the general population in general.
The collaboration between leading nutrition experts from NRI and NNRIS has helped Nutifood leverage its strengths, bringing differentiation to research and the creation of diverse product lines, from powdered milk and liquid milk to daily nutritional products such as yogurt, soy milk, and cereals. Depending on individual needs, age groups (from pregnant mothers to infants, young children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly), and economic income levels, each customer can choose Nutifood branded products suitable for themselves and their families.
