(Dan Tri) - US President Donald Trump will buy a Tesla car as technology tycoon Elon Musk's company faces difficulties due to the political moves of the world's richest billionaire.

US President Donald Trump said on March 11 that he would buy a new Tesla to show support for the electric car company's CEO and ally, Elon Musk, amid ongoing protests against Tesla and the company's plummeting stock price.
Mr Musk's role in slashing federal staff and cutting budgets at Mr Trump's request has led to anti-Tesla protests in the US.
About 350 protesters gathered outside a Tesla electric car dealership in Portland, Oregon, last week, while nine people were arrested during a chaotic protest outside a Tesla dealership in New York City in early March.
Mr. Musk is currently leading the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration with the ambition of cutting the federal budget by $2,000 billion in the coming time.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Mr Trump defended Musk, saying the billionaire was "taking a risk to help the country" and was doing a "fantastic" job.
"I will be purchasing a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a sign of my faith and support for Elon Musk, a truly remarkable American," Mr. Trump declared.
Mr Musk thanked the president for his support on his social media platform X.
Tesla’s market capitalization has more than halved since hitting a record high of $1.5 trillion on December 17, 2024. The decline has erased much of the company’s gains from a surge in shares after Mr. Musk bankrolled Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign victory.
Tesla's stock decline since December has been driven by falling sales and profits, protests over Mr Musk's political activities and investor concerns that politics are distracting the world's richest man from managing his cash cow.
