Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris 'sprint' to campaign in battleground states close to election day

VTC NewsVTC News03/11/2024

This is the fourth time Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have visited the same state on the same day, underscoring the importance of seven states that could decide the White House race and recent polls show the two candidates neck and neck.

More than 70 million Americans have already cast ballots, according to tracking data from the University of Florida. That’s lower than the record pace of early voting in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, but still shows voters’ interest in the “boxing match” between Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump.

November 2 also marked the last day of early voting in North Carolina, where more than 3.8 million ballots were cast. Notably, the western part of the state is still recovering from flooding caused by Hurricane Helene.

Ms Harris is scheduled to appear with rock star Jon Bon Jovi in Charlotte, North Carolina’s largest city. In 2020, a majority of North Carolina voters backed Mr Trump.

Meanwhile, Mr. Trump also held a campaign rally in Gastonia at noon the same day, before returning to the state of North Carolina. He is scheduled to speak at the First Horizon Coliseum - a 22,000-seat venue in Greensboro.

“This election is a choice between four more years of incompetence and catastrophic failure or starting with the greatest four years in the history of our country,” Mr. Trump emphasized.

The Democratic and Republican candidates have very different policies on issues such as support for Ukraine and NATO, abortion rights, immigration, taxes and tariffs.

Previously, both Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris were present in North Carolina on October 30, Nevada on October 31 and Wisconsin on November 1. All three locations are battleground states.

As the race enters its final stretch, the US Vice President's campaign team plans to hold networking events in seven battleground states on November 4 to mobilize voters.
