On September 16th, Operation Smile announced a program offering free surgeries for patients with cleft lip and palate deformities at the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) in October.

According to this announcement, the program will take place from October 5th to October 10th. Specifically, the screening will be on October 5th, and the surgeries will be from October 7th to October 10th.

The patients eligible for examination and surgery include: patients with cleft lip and palate for the first time (patients with congenital cleft lip and palate who have not undergone surgery must be at least 4 months old and weigh at least 6 kg; patients with congenital cleft palate must be at least 12 months old and weigh at least 9.5 kg); patients with sequelae of congenital cleft lip and palate of all ages (lip scars, palatal fistulas, nasal deformities); patients with congenital ptosis (not ophthalmic conditions such as strabismus), and excess cartilage in the ear.
The patient, upon examination, did not have any congenital conditions such as heart disease, epilepsy, asthma, etc., and was not sick, feverish, or infected at the time of the examination.
Medical expenses for surgeries will be covered free of charge for patients. In addition, patients will receive partial assistance with travel and food costs during their hospital stay.
