According to information from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the first three months of 2025, Hanoi welcomed about 7.3 million visitors, including 1.85 million international visitors, an increase of 17.4% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 29,930 billion, an increase of about VND 5 trillion over the same period in 2024, equivalent to about 11.3%. (In the first quarter of 2024, Hanoi's revenue from accommodation and food services reached about VND 24.9 trillion)
Notably, in March 2025, Hanoi welcomed 2.61 million visitors, of which international visitors accounted for 709,000, achieving revenue of nearly 11,000 billion VND.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in April and the second quarter of 2025, the Department will launch new tourism products such as: Experiential tourism products associated with heritage values - relics at Ha Mo tourist site, Dan Phuong district; tourism route "South Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road" in Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin, Phu Xuyen districts; community tourism model associated with practical experiences of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in An Phu commune, My Duc district; rural agricultural tourism model in Tich Giang commune, Phuc Tho district...
In addition, Hanoi is also preparing for annual tourism events such as the Tourism Gift Festival and Hanoi Tourism Festival 2025, expected to bring visitors rich experiences, from culture, cuisine to attractive entertainment activities.
Ms. Le Lan Anh, in charge of box tours on Hang Trong Street, shared: "In the first quarter, during the New Year and Lunar New Year, Hanoi organized many attractive cultural and entertainment events, attracting a large number of tourists. In the second quarter, in addition to the general programs of the capital's tourism, travel companies continued to promote, design many attractive programs, and personalize experiences with the goal of continuing to attract a large number of visitors and increase revenue."
What to do to continue to break through in the second quarter?

According to Mr. Vu Tien Anh, director of a travel agency in Hoan Kiem District, although Hanoi tourism achieved many successes in the first quarter, to maintain the growth momentum and attract tourists, especially international visitors, a sustainable and creative development strategy is needed. Travel agencies all hope that Hanoi will continue to invest in tourism infrastructure, especially renovating the space around famous tourist destinations such as Hoan Kiem Lake. Preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage will help Hanoi become an attractive destination not only for domestic tourists but also for international visitors.
Mr. Vu Tien Anh emphasized: "To protect the cultural values and tourism image of Hanoi, it is necessary to have a strategy for planning and managing signs in areas such as Hoan Kiem Lake. After the Hoan Kiem Lake area is renovated, advertising signs should prioritize purely Vietnamese products, thereby helping to promote Hanoi tourism on tourists' personal media channels."
Ms. Jenny Ha, marketing manager of a travel company on Lo Su Street, said that the number of visitors in the first quarter of the company increased by about 30% compared to 2024. Since the Covid pandemic, the company has applied artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to personalize tours, helping tourists have unique and optimal experiences.
Ms. Ha shared: "We have taken advantage of online platforms, influencers and social networks to build our brand and attract international visitors. At the same time, we have expanded tourism products associated with local heritage and cultural values, such as agricultural tourism and eco-tourism, to create rich experiences for visitors. We believe that, with travel companies promoting digital marketing applications as they are now, Hanoi's tourism revenue will continue to grow strongly in the coming time."
Ms. Pham My Hanh, a researcher on Hanoi’s domestic tourism market and a lecturer at Nguyen Trai University, said that simplifying visa procedures is an important factor for Hanoi to attract an increasing number of international visitors. A flexible visa policy will help Hanoi easily access major tourism markets such as the US, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the UK and many other countries. In addition, the connection of famous tourist destinations in Hanoi with neighboring areas such as Ba Vi, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, etc. also needs to be strengthened to extend the length of stay of visitors, thereby increasing revenue for travel agencies, accommodation establishments and food services.
According to Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, Hanoi Department of Tourism will strengthen communication, propaganda, and promotion of tourism images, destinations, and new tourism products of the capital on domestic and international media and television channels to attract visitors to Hanoi with the consistent message "Hanoi - Come to love" and "Hanoi - Safe and attractive tourist destination" and organize a series of attractive and unique events and programs to promote tourism in the capital in a professional manner.
The capital's tourism industry strives to attract over 30 million visitors by 2025, with total revenue from tourists reaching over 130 trillion VND, an increase of 26.1% compared to the estimated implementation in 2024.
