Unleashing the power of farmers in the new era.

During the period 2023-2025, the Provincial Farmers' Association will make significant progress, contributing to the development of a modern and sustainable agricultural sector. On the occasion of the First Provincial Farmers' Association Congress, term 2025-2030, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, Nguyen Van Cop, highlighted several important points.

- Reporter: What were the outstanding achievements of farmers throughout the province during the past term, sir?

- Mr. Nguyen Van Cop: During the period 2023-2025, farmers' associations at all levels in the province organized nearly 81,000 propaganda sessions, attracting more than 2.1 million members and farmers – a figure that clearly demonstrates the widespread impact of propaganda work, the innovative and lively forms, and the deep engagement with the grassroots. We have identified political and ideological education as the foundation for building the peasant class in the new situation.

Following the merger, the Provincial Farmers' Association now has 102 branches, over 1,660 sub-branches, 10,401 groups, and nearly 270,000 members. This extensive network ensures that the association understands practical needs and provides timely support to farmers. A very important highlight is the training and development program. The various levels of the association, in coordination with the agricultural sector, science and technology sector, and technology enterprises, have trained over 12,000 farmers to improve their production and business skills, cooperative thinking, value chain linkages, and information technology skills.

Alongside this, social welfare activities have been strongly implemented. The association has mobilized over 6.1 billion VND in Tet gifts; built 134 "Farmers' Shelters," 27 rural traffic bridges, drilled 116 water wells, provided free medical examinations and medicine... with a total expenditure of over 10 billion VND, contributing to reducing the poverty rate in the province from 1.9% to 0.9%.

The Association focuses on supporting farmers in modern and sustainable production, including 22 models under the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation linked to green growth in the Mekong Delta, covering 1,117 hectares; maintaining the effectiveness of 279 farmers' clubs and 19 community centers; and selecting 100 cooperatives to participate in value chains. All these results demonstrate the spirit of "Democracy - Unity - Innovation - Cooperation - Development," creating a foundation for entering the new term with a new mindset.

- Reporter: As one of the core organizations in agricultural and rural development, what key solutions has the Provincial Farmers' Association proposed for the 2025-2030 term?

- Mr. Nguyen Van Cop: We have identified three major task groups. Firstly, building a clean and strong association. The association will promote propaganda, focusing on Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; diversify educational methods, apply information technology and social media; strengthen public opinion monitoring, and promptly guide members' thinking.

Secondly, we aim to build a team of capable cadres and develop high-quality members. We closely coordinate with Party committees at all levels in planning, training, and rejuvenating cadres; paying particular attention to female cadres and ethnic minorities. Membership recruitment will be carried out systematically and transparently, linked to the campaign "Building a model of farmer members in the new era." The association also aims to expand membership to intellectuals, fishermen, ethnic minorities, and religious followers.

Thirdly, we must vigorously innovate our working methods, focusing on the grassroots level. Local associations will be the central hub, and members will be the key stakeholders. We must strengthen dialogue, supervision, and social criticism; and promote the role of branch associations and professional groups. We must prioritize the application of high technology and accelerate digital transformation in the production and consumption of products. We must promptly recognize and replicate best practices.

The overall goal is to build dynamic, knowledgeable farmers in An Giang with a market-oriented mindset, ready to participate in value chains and apply high technology.

- Reporter: On the occasion of the First Congress of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, term 2025-2030, what are your expectations for the new path of the An Giang peasant class?

- Mr. Nguyen Van Cop: This congress marks an important turning point after the merger of the association's organizations. I hope that all cadres and members will continue to uphold the tradition of solidarity, the spirit of innovation, and the aspiration to excel. Farmers will continue to play a central role in the agricultural restructuring process, being the main actors in building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. The association will accompany and create conditions for farmers to increase their income, legitimately enrich themselves, adapt production to climate change, and integrate deeply into the international community.

I believe that, with strong political determination and the aspiration for advancement of each farmer member, the 2025-2030 term will usher in a new phase of development, more efficient production, and increasingly stable lives for farmers.

- Reporter: Thank you!
