Six years of comprehensive restructuring, strong transformation
In April 2025, according to Decision No. 775/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister , Phenikaa University officially became Phenikaa University. This is the sweet fruit of a 6-year journey of restructuring efforts, strong and comprehensive transformation since the school became a member of the Phenikaa Group ecosystem in 2017.
Formerly Thanh Tay University, established in 2007, the school was named Phenikaa since November 2018. Phenikaa University has become a member of the four pillars of the Phenikaa Group Ecosystem (including Industrial Production - Technology Development - Healthcare -Education and Training), operating in a mutually supportive relationship, closely linked with more than 30 other member units in the ecosystem.

The development and restructuring process of Phenikaa University takes place on a solid foundation of resources: human - system - technology from the group, according to the long-term strategic vision of Phenikaa Group in general and Phenikaa University in particular. Successfully transforming into a University model, Phenikaa marks a historic turning point on that path, showing the comprehensive maturity in terms of scale, institutions and capacity of the school.
Large scale : From about 350 students in the first class enrolled under the name of Phenikaa University in 2019, Phenikaa University currently has a training scale of more than 25,000 students in the entire system, with an enrollment scale of about 10,000 students/year in the last two years. A high-quality staff of nearly 1,200 staff, of which more than 45% have a doctorate degree or higher (with 25 Professors, nearly 100 Associate Professors), many scientists have won the Ta Quang Buu Award, 3 Golden Globe Awards, 4 scientists in the list of 100,000 leading prestigious scientists internationally..., an impressive number for a very young university.
Outstanding multidisciplinary training : Phenikaa University's training fields cover many fields such as: engineering, technology, economics, social sciences and humanities, health care, law, interdisciplinary digital technology... Currently, 5 schools have been established: Phenikaa School of Engineering, Phenikaa School of Economics, Phenikaa School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Phenikaa School of Information Technology, Phenikaa School of Foreign Languages - Social Sciences, and is in the process of preparing to establish 3 more schools: School of Interdisciplinary Digital Technology, School of Law, School of Tourism from restructuring the corresponding faculties (Faculty of Interdisciplinary Digital Technology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Tourism), 2 Institutes of Basic and Applied Research, with over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate training programs, focusing on key majors, meeting the needs of society and the development trends of the digital technology era.
Many training programs have been accredited domestically and internationally, including programs that are being accredited according to international standards such as ABET (USA), FIBAA (Europe) - contributing to enhancing academic reputation and competitiveness in the region.
Modern infrastructure and technology: In order to equip advanced facilities, meet the needs of learning and practicing innovation, accessing science and technology for the faculty/students, Phenikaa has invested about 2,700 billion VND on an academic and practical campus of 140,000m2, with over 100,000m2 of lecture halls/labs/offices, more than 140 advanced laboratories with equipment systems worth over 600 billion VND, the leading modern microchip design center in Southeast Asia, a digital university platform in operation and being upgraded, along with a multi-purpose sports area and modern dormitory for students and international experts...

Quality scientific research activities: The period 2020-2024 marks a remarkable development of Phenikaa University in scientific research activities. With 12 strong groups and 20 potential groups, Phenikaa has maintained its position as the Top 1 university and research institute in Vietnam in the Nature Index rankings (from 2020 - 2024), Top 7 in Southeast Asia, Top 1,000 in the world, Top 3 in the RePEc rankings of economic research organizations in Vietnam in 2024, Top 5 in Vietnam in the SCIMAGO 2025 rankings, Top 5 IPStar 2023 in intellectual property, Top 25% of universities with the greatest global impact on partnerships for the goals (SDG 17) and good health and well-being (SDG 3), along with many other impressive achievements.
Promoting strong innovation : With the goal of creating breakthroughs through innovation, Phenikaa University focuses on creating an environment and investing resources in scientific research activities and developing science and technology. Currently, the university owns more than 150 patents and useful solutions, and at the same time implements 218 creative projects of students, periodically organizes startup competitions and seminars with the participation of nearly 10,000 students, establishes 9 spin-off/startup companies from lecturers and students, especially applying the policy of directly transferring capital to student startups - a rare model in Vietnamese higher education.
Business and international connections : Phenikaa University has established a network of connections with more than 120 universities and research institutes worldwide, including many leading universities such as Stanford, ASU (USA), Monash, Deakin (Australia), Ghent (Belgium), Uwe Bristol (UK), NUS (Singapore)... Phenikaa University is also an active member of many large regional and international academic networks, expanding learning, research and exchange opportunities for both lecturers and students.

On July 22, Phenikaa University will hold the "Ceremony to announce the decision to convert the model from Phenikaa University to University and Breakthrough Development Strategy", and at the same time announce the vision to become the top 1 Vietnamese University in innovation and top 200-300 universities in the world by 2035.
This event is an important milestone, marking the breakthrough of a young school after 6 years of comprehensive restructuring to enter a new phase with challenging goals carrying aspirations to reach far, the honor and pride of Phenikaa people.
