Academic playground for students who love Chinese
This morning, October 25, the final round of the 4th Chinese Open Speech Contest for university students in the Southern region took place at the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City (UEF).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri, Vice Principal of the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the Chinese Open Speech Contest is an annual academic activity of profound significance, contributing to creating an intellectual, healthy and creative playground for students who love the Chinese language from universities in the Southern region.
“This is not only a place for students to demonstrate their linguistic talents, critical thinking and stage presence, but also a valuable opportunity to exchange, learn and spread love for Chinese culture,” Dr. Tri shared.
It is known that the competition attracted the participation of students from 14 universities in the Southern region with more than 100 candidates competing in the preliminary round. The 30 best candidates were selected to participate in the final race.
In the final round, the contestants presented many rich, current and humane speech topics, revolving around issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), humans in the digital age, Vietnam-China friendship, culture - education and youth aspirations....
According to the competition’s judges, the winners were highly appreciated not only for their precise language skills and natural pronunciation, but also for their independent thinking, strong arguments and confident demeanor. Many performances left a deep impression on the young people by combining knowledge, emotions and personal identity to spread humanistic messages.

The first prize went to Nguyet Loan Phuong Gia team from the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City. Two teams from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (Qing Cai Feng Zhao), and student Ngo Thi Ngoc Bich (Ba Ria - Vung Tau University) shared the second prize.
Team Gaoxin (students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking), Truong Huynh Mai Uyen (Nguyen Tat Thanh University) won third prize.
Teams from Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, Hung Vuong University and Thu Dau Mot University received consolation prizes.
Foreign languages open up opportunities
Present at the event, Ms. Wang Xin Ran, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed: "China and Vietnam are two friendly neighboring countries with long-standing people-to-people exchanges, and the speech contest is a 'useful window' for the youth of the two countries to understand each other better through language, a bridge of peace, cooperation and understanding."
Ms. Wang Xin Ran hopes that Vietnamese students will cherish this exchange opportunity, contributing their youth and knowledge to promote the connection between the two nations, deepening the Vietnam-China friendship in the new era.

Also at the contest, Ms. Mao Zhao Xia, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that learning a language is the way to open the door to knowledge and future opportunities. “Chinese is not only a language, but also the key to a new world. I hope that you will continue to study hard, to open up a bright future for yourself and contribute to deepening the friendship between the two countries,” she shared.
Dr. Nhan Cam Tri believes that in the era of globalization, foreign languages are important tools to help young people step out into the world.
“Any foreign language is a bridge to the future. Although technology is developing strongly, we cannot just hold the phone to translate forever. Currently, foreign languages are also a must, so every young person should prepare for themselves at least one foreign language, more is better to confidently integrate and assert themselves,” Mr. Tri commented.
