Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong: The press must inspire trust and awaken the desire for innovation and creativity.

According to the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, each journalistic work is not simply about providing information but must arouse confidence, awaken aspirations and encourage innovation throughout the nation.

On October 24, the Ministry of Science and Technology held an award ceremony for the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Awards for 24 award-winning works and groups of works.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, said that the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award takes place in the context of the whole country implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

According to him, the role of science and technology is affirmed as one of the strategic pillars for Vietnam to become a developed country. In order for the ideas of Resolution 57 to enter life and reach the people, the press has a particularly important role.

"To spread to the people, the press must be a pioneering force, a solid bridge between policy and practice. Each press work on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation must not only provide information but also inspire confidence, awaken aspirations, and encourage innovation throughout the nation," Mr. Phuong emphasized.

According to the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award Council, the organizing committee received more than 200 works and groups of works from many major press agencies across the country.

According to the jury's assessment, the entries richly and deeply reflect all aspects of science and technology activities, from scientists' research, application models at the local level and businesses, to innovative initiatives in people's lives.

From more than 200 entries, through two preliminary and final rounds, 24 works and groups of works in five types of journalism, including print, electronic, television, radio and photojournalism, were approved for awards by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The first prize-winning works belong to the group of works "When artificial intelligence explodes, 'knocking on the door' of every house", Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper; the group of works "Digital society in the era of national growth", People's Army Electronic Newspaper; the work "Weapons... to save people", VTC14 Channel, VTC Digital Television Station; the work "Stories of people who realize the 'Dream of Flying' in Vietnam", VOV1, Voice of Vietnam Radio.

In addition, the organizing committee awarded 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes to the winning authors and groups of authors.
