The incident occurred near the Palestinian village of Beita, Reuters reports. The area, south of the city of Nablus, has long been a hotspot for settler attacks, with incidents rising since the Gaza war began two years ago. This year, attacks have intensified during the olive harvest, which began in October.
According to activist Jonathan Pollack, about 50 masked settlers took part in the attack, brutally beating Reuters reporter Raneen Sawafta and anyone who tried to defend her.

Among the injured were reporter Raneen Sawafta and her bodyguard, Grant Bowden. Both were wearing helmets and protective vests marked “Press,” but Sawafta’s camera was destroyed. They were taken to a hospital in Nablus for medical examination.
The Israeli military said it sent troops to the scene after receiving reports of clashes; however, witnesses confirmed there was no military presence at the scene during the attack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press office added that it condemns all acts of violence and will continue to maintain security in the area.
At least 264 attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians took place in the West Bank in October, the highest number since 2006, according to United Nations figures. Human rights groups note that most of these incidents go uninvestigated and perpetrators are rarely brought to justice.
