On October 24, reporting to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Huu Tin - a parent whose child attends Minh Luong Kindergarten (Chau Thanh commune, An Giang province) - said that on September 13, he and other parents went to a meeting and were informed by the school that 3 kindergarten classes would be merged into 2 kindergarten classes due to insufficient number of students.

Many parents did not agree to combine classes because the number of students would be too large and exceed the maximum of 25 children per class. At this time, the school promised to notify parents later, but then still combined the classes and moved the nursery block to the sprout block.

According to parents, moving this class does not ensure the safety of children because the toilets in the nursery block are degraded, making it inconvenient and unsafe for preschool children to use the toilets separately from the classroom.

"The school moved the classroom without consulting the parents or analyzing the pros and cons. This also affects the children's psychology. I request the school to apologize and return the classroom to its original state. If the classroom is still moved, the school must commit to ensuring the safety of the children during their time at school," Mr. Tin requested.

Also having a child studying at Minh Luong Kindergarten, a parent (who asked not to be named) said she disagreed with the move. "My child is too young and the restroom is outside the classroom and is in disrepair. I have to temporarily let my child stay home from school. I hope the local government will find a solution so that the child can continue to go to school," said the parent.

To get objective, multi-dimensional information, Tuoi Tre Online reporter contacted by phone and made an appointment to meet Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Principal of Minh Luong Kindergarten, but she refused to meet and said she was busy.

Regarding this, Mr. Luu Hong Cung - Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh Commune People's Committee - said that the locality has grasped the incident and has held a meeting with relevant parties. Accordingly, the school moved the classroom to ensure space for children to study, play and live.

"As parents are afraid to send their children to school, we have directed relevant units to go to parents' homes to persuade them to send their children back to school. Minh Luong Kindergarten has now repaired the restrooms to ensure children's safety," Mr. Cung added.
