Overcoming difficulties and rising to the top.
Ms. Zơ Râm Thị Nhia (Cột Buồm village, Kà Dăng commune) got married in 2010 when she was just 22 years old. The couple had no assets, so they encouraged each other to work hard and overcome their circumstances to have a comfortable life and provide for their children's education.
Using land given to them by their parents, Nhia and her husband cleared a portion of the land, covering more than 1 hectare, to plant longan trees. Through the Women's Union, she decided to borrow 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank of the district and, along with her savings, invested in planting 5 hectares of acacia trees.
With the first acacia harvest in 2017, the family used the money to buy a television, a motorbike, and other necessary items. Besides growing rambutan and acacia trees, she also raises local black pigs, chickens, and fishes. After deducting expenses, the couple saves over 70 million VND each year.
Now that their family's finances are gradually stabilizing, Nhia and her husband have the means to cover their daily expenses and purchase essential household items. Thanks to their hard work and effective use of the social welfare loan, their family has repaid the entire loan. Their children are well-behaved and diligent in their studies.

In Bhơhồông village (Sông Kôn commune), the household of Clâu Thị Bhớp is a prime example of a woman overcoming adversity and effectively utilizing social credit loans. In the early days of her marriage, life was very difficult. Her main source of income depended on farming, relying on only one rice crop per year. If the weather was unfavorable, the whole family had to eat cassava instead of rice.
In 2014, Ms. Bhop discussed with her husband the possibility of borrowing 50 million VND through the poverty alleviation program managed by the Women's Union, along with their savings, to open a small grocery store and buy a motorbike to transport vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish to sell in every alleyway.
She also bought damaged vegetables at the market to feed her 10 piglets. After 4 months, the first batch of pigs was sold, bringing in over 10.5 million VND. In 2015, the family cleared 3 hectares of farmland to cultivate rice and intercrop acacia trees. The first acacia harvest after 5 years brought in over 51 million VND.
To live a more fulfilling life.
Another story of overcoming hardship is that of Ms. Bnướch Thị Hằng (Pho village, Sông Kôn commune). Shortly after giving birth to her first child, tragedy struck when her husband unfortunately passed away due to a serious illness. Since her husband's death, Ms. Bnướch Thị Hằng has become the family's breadwinner and the support for her daughter.
After many years, she decided to take another step forward, as her husband's family also belonged to the poor household category. With advice and guidance from the Women's Union of the commune on using loan capital to invest in livelihood development, she and her husband agreed to choose to engage in small-scale trading of goods.
Through the Women's Union, she borrowed 50 million VND from the District Branch of the Social Policy Bank to build a canopy, construct cabinets and iron shelves to open a grocery store. The profit was modest, but offering a variety of products helped the family stabilize their income. The wife stayed home to run the business, while the husband found work at a company. To date, the family has escaped poverty sustainably.

In Ben Hien village (Ka Dang commune), the life of Ms. Alang Thi Chot's family, which was once a struggle to make ends meet, has gradually improved. Previously, in 2010, she borrowed 50 million VND from the Dong Giang District Branch of the Social Policy Bank to invest in planting 10 hectares of acacia trees and expanding her rambutan orchard by more than 2 hectares. At the same time, she raised pigs, cultivated upland rice, and opened a grocery store and beverage stall to increase her income.
With the income from her first acacia harvest in 2015, Ms. Chot bought a television, a motorbike, and some other household items. Currently, the family's finances are gradually stabilizing, with an annual income of hundreds of millions of dong.
Ms. Chot said: “I am very happy to have overcome difficult times, partly thanks to the care and help of the local community. Associations and organizations, especially the Women's Union of the commune and the community, have actively guided and provided knowledge on economic development, saving expenses, building happy families, and educating children to be well-behaved and excel in their studies.”
According to Mr. Dang Van Dung, Director of the Social Policy Bank Branch in Dong Giang district, as of December 31, 2024, the total outstanding entrusted loans managed through the Women's Union amounted to over 115.2 billion VND; by June 30, 2025, the total outstanding entrusted loans will exceed 132 billion VND. Women in Dong Giang district have borrowed capital through a total of 12 loan programs.
