Since the morning of October 25, in Chanh Hiep ward, military forces, police, neighborhood management board and security and order protection have transported each truckload of soil to the gathering point, packed it into bags to build canal banks and channels in low-lying areas.

At noon on October 25, along Ba Quyen canal, many people had moved to other places, leaving their belongings scattered in front of the yard.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nguyen said that from early morning until noon, she only struggled with cleaning the house and sweeping away water so that the machines and electronic devices in the house would not be damaged.

Drifting alone in the water, Nguyen Van Ty looked wearily across the canal. He said there were four people in his family: his wife and eldest son were at work, while he and his youngest child stayed at home. He was sick and didn’t know where to go.

Mr. Tran Anh Kiet, Deputy Head of the Executive Board of My Hao 1 Quarter, Chanh Hiep Ward, said that out of 13 groups in the neighborhood, 8 were affected by high tides and flooding. Many households had to move to temporary shelters to avoid the high tides and would return when the water receded.

In the early afternoon of October 25, in groups 7 and 8 of My Hao 1 neighborhood, many concrete alleys were flooded. Around the area, water reached the steps or flooded into low-lying houses, damaging property.

Not far away, many alleys in My Hao neighborhood were also submerged in water.

To cope with flooding caused by heavy rain and high tides, on the afternoon of October 25, many households moved their belongings to higher ground and built bags of soil in front of their doorsteps.

At Doan Tran Nghiep Street at Thu Dau Mot Market, after heavy rains on October 23, water flooded up to half the wheel, affecting the business activities of small traders at the market.

In Thu Dau Mot ward, the military also coordinated with the neighborhood to build sandbags to create dikes to block the water. Around the canals in Chanh Nghia 4, Chanh Nghia 6, Chanh Nghia 8 neighborhoods, especially the canals adjacent to Bau Bang canal. Many houses were heavily flooded.

In addition to Ba Quyen canal, Bau Bang canal, Doan Tran Nghiep street, Thich Quang Duc street, Nguyen Tri Phuong street, Cach Mang Thang 8 street, some areas along the Saigon river are at high risk of flooding including: Ong Danh canal, branches of Ba Lua canal, Saigon river embankment (near Ba Lua port), areas outside Tan An dike.
