According to Tuoi Tre Online , many sections of Binh Quoi road remain submerged in murky water due to high tides. Many households living along the Saigon River have been struggling for the past three days to cope with the prolonged and severe flooding.
Mrs. Chin's house, one of the households located right next to the river, has been heavily flooded since October 24th, and the water level remains almost knee-deep. Common living areas such as the kitchen and living room are submerged, rendering cooking and resting almost impossible.
The family had to install pumps and pipes to drain the water, but only dared to use them when the water level rose too high because they consumed a lot of fuel. A family member shared, "All the houses in this area suffered equally heavy damage."
Not far away, another household said that despite proactively using sandbags, soil, and barriers to block the water early on, the strong tide rendered all efforts unsuccessful. "It's been a long time since the flooding was this bad," this person sighed.
Ms. Kim, another resident on Binh Quoi Street, was limping because, during the high flood, she couldn't see the path clearly and stepped on a piece of metal, injuring her foot. "I just hope the water recedes quickly so I can clean up my house, because this kind of flooding is so difficult."
At Binh Quoi tourist area, the water level remains high despite the approaching high tide. The entire tourist area is severely flooded because the tidal surge knocked down a section of the retaining wall along the nearby canal.
At the end of Binh Quoi Street (Binh Quoi Ward), a water pump has been installed, with pipes running across the road.
Authorities are diverting vehicles to other routes to avoid disrupting water pumping and drainage operations, and to prevent people from entering heavily flooded areas.
Over the past two days, the People's Committee of Binh Quoi ward has mobilized forces and equipment to assist residents in coping with high tides.
During peak tide hours, militia forces are assigned to stand guard in the area, assisting residents in piling sandbags on overflowing banks and raising belongings to prevent damage.
