During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Mark Brown once again highly appreciated the signing of the Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations on April 26, 2022, which opens up many opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in potential areas.
The two leaders expressed confidence that, with determination and political trust, bilateral relations would develop even more strongly, particularly in the areas of economics, trade, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and addressing climate change and sea level rise.
Going forward, both sides will send representatives to attend international conferences held in each country, such as the International Fisheries Forum in the Cook Islands (December 2023) and the International Rice Forum in Vietnam (expected at the end of 2023).
Prime Minister Mark Brown expressed admiration for Vietnam's development model and achievements, and wished to share experiences in socio-economic development and regional and international integration. He also expressed readiness to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in potential sectors such as tourism and seafood, and affirmed his intention to soon exchange views and negotiate with Vietnam on a rice trade cooperation agreement.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides further enhance the connectivity and complementarity of their economies; focus on promoting areas of cooperation with significant potential such as agriculture, aquaculture, and textiles; and explore expanding cooperation in new areas such as the digital economy, circular economy, green economy, and innovation.
