Hundreds of kilometers of roads in mountainous districts of Quang Ngai have been invested in and are opening a new journey in the fight against hunger and poverty in remote areas.
The roads that open up the future
Implementing the national target program on new rural construction, Trung village, Tra Son commune, Tra Bong district, many rural roads have been invested in and solidified. Walking around Trung village, it is not difficult to clearly recognize the local appearance has changed dramatically.
Rural traffic infrastructure in the mountainous district of Tra Bong is increasingly being invested in and improved.
In addition to building roads, people also invest in building fences, gates, planting flowers on both sides... thereby contributing to improving the beauty of their homeland.
With the motto of the State and the people working together, before, this village road was a small, narrow dirt road, making it difficult to travel. As soon as the State supported the concrete road, the people here understood the correct policy of the State as well as the benefits they would enjoy, many people voluntarily donated land to open the road.
Ms. Ho Thi Su (Trung village, Tra Son commune) said: Although at that time, my family's land had many cinnamon trees that were in harvest season. But for the common good, I donated 600 square meters of land for perennial crops to widen the road. The village road is now wide, clean and beautiful, everyone is happy.
To have this spacious and clean concrete road, the Trung village government has flexibly applied propaganda and mobilization methods to make cadres, party members and people clearly aware of their roles and benefits in the implementation of the new rural construction program. Thereby, arousing the spirit of self-awareness and voluntariness of the people in donating land, contributing labor and money to build rural roads.
Thanks to good work in orientation, propaganda, allocation and integration of programs, up to now 100% of roads from the district to the commune center have been paved; 92.4% of roads from the commune to the village have been concreted according to new rural standards.
Tra Bong district currently has 3 communes meeting 19 new rural criteria, 1 commune meeting 18 new rural criteria... Chairman of Tra Bong district People's Committee Tran Hoang Vinh shared that the capital for building new rural areas has contributed to changing the appearance of infrastructure as well as the lives of people in communes in the district, especially traffic infrastructure, schools, medical stations...
In Ba To district, for generations, people of Ba Le commune have been isolated every time there is a flood. But now, the Nuoc Lech stream flood bridge has removed all the obstacles.
The investment in Nuoc Lech Bridge has eliminated the separation during the rainy season in Tot village.
Village elder Pham Van Le, Lang Tot village, Ba Le commune (Ba To) happily said: For many years, every rainy season, our whole village has been isolated by Nuoc Lech stream, making it difficult for people to travel, especially when they are sick. Due to the difficult traffic, in order to pursue their dream of education, every rainy season, local children have to stay at the houses of people from other villages to go to school.
"Now that the separation is over, we are very happy. From now on, we can travel in the sun or rain without worrying about being swept away by floodwaters," said old Le.
In addition to the nearly 60m long Nuoc Lech flood overpass, Ba To district also invested in a traffic route at both ends of the bridge, about 4.5km long, replacing the previous dirt road. This project with a total investment of about 40 billion VND has solved the expectations of many generations of Lang Tot residents, making travel and transporting goods more convenient for people, opening up new development opportunities for the locality.
In addition to Nuoc Lech bridge, in recent years, Ba To district has also invested in building dozens of roads and other rural traffic works, thereby creating a complete traffic network connecting difficult areas with commune centers. Creating favorable conditions for trade development and rescue.
According to Chairman of Ba To District People's Committee Pham Giang Nam, recently, from the province's capital and a part of local budget, the district has focused on investing in many key traffic projects, aiming to develop smooth traffic infrastructure, especially traffic in remote areas, often isolated during the rainy season.
These are dynamic projects, promoting socio -economic development, narrowing the development gap between the district center and remote areas. The Ba To road project to Cay Muoi village (Ba Trang commune) is also a regional connectivity project, opening up opportunities for smooth traffic between Ba To district and An Lao district (Binh Dinh).
Continued investment in mountainous areas
Determining that rural transport development is of great importance in creating momentum for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of building new rural areas, Quang Ngai province has mobilized many resources, especially mobilizing people's strength to expand and upgrade the rural transport system.
Investment in developing rural and mountainous transport is a priority for Quang Ngai.
With the efforts of Party committees, authorities, organizations and unions in mobilizing, the role of the people in participating in the construction of rural roads has been promoted. From the beginning of 2022 to now, the whole Quang Ngai province has mobilized people to contribute nearly 30,000 working days, nearly 100 billion VND and donated hundreds of thousands of square meters of land to build nearly 300km of rural concrete roads. To date, the whole province has 118 communes meeting the criteria for rural traffic.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai province Ho Trong Phuong said that according to the plan to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Construction by 2025, the whole province has 7/13 districts, towns and cities meeting the standards to complete the task of building new rural areas. At the commune level, 120/148 communes, wards and towns meet the new rural standards, of which 53/120 communes meet the advanced new rural standards, 8/53 communes meet the model new rural standards.
To achieve the set goals, in addition to State investment, the people's solidarity and unanimity are extremely important.
After more than 10 years of Quang Ngai province implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, along with the drastic direction and participation of the entire political system, there is also the consensus and great contribution of local people.
However, currently there are still nearly 30 communes that have not met the criteria for rural traffic, mainly in mountainous, remote and isolated communes.
Quang Ngai province will continue to invest in rural and mountainous transport infrastructure.
"Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province will closely coordinate with local authorities, associations and unions to promote propaganda and mobilize people to proactively participate in donating land to expand roads, contributing working days and money so that villages and communes can soon meet rural road standards.
Thereby, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development in a sustainable direction," Mr. Phuong emphasized.
