Introducing an entirely new model line to the US market is not a common occurrence for Subaru Japan, but that's exactly what the company has done with the all-electric 2026 Subaru Uncharted. Notably, the Uncharted Premium FWD is the first front-wheel-drive Subaru model sold in the U.S. in decades – a move that breaks with the brand's long-standing tradition of all-wheel-drive (AWD).
In terms of design, the Uncharted boasts a sharp, almost identical look to the Toyota C-HR. While not entirely groundbreaking, the car still impresses with its LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power tailgate, 208 mm ground clearance, and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels. Inside, the minimalist interior features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 14-inch central infotainment screen supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The center console is neatly designed, equipped with a rotary gear selector and dual wireless phone charging. Heated front seats, a 10-way power adjustable driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient interior lighting are notable features. The car also comes with a digital key and a standard 6-speaker sound system.
In terms of safety, Subaru equips the Uncharted with the EyeSight driver assistance package, which includes: adaptive cruise control, front/rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, active steering assist, traffic sign recognition, and emergency steering assist. Additionally, it features blind spot monitoring and safe door opening alert. The base version of the 2026 Subaru Uncharted uses a front-mounted 221-horsepower electric motor, combined with a 74.7 kWh battery for an estimated range of over 483 km. The vehicle supports DC fast charging via NACS ports, charging from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes. At a higher price point, the Uncharted Sport starts at $39,795 (approximately 1.03 billion VND), featuring minor exterior adjustments with roof rails and an upgraded interior with StarTex upholstery, a heated leather steering wheel, an 8-way power adjustable passenger seat, and a driver's seat with memory function. The vehicle is equipped with numerous active safety features such as lane-changing assist, traffic jam assist, and a panoramic camera system. Most notably, it features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system delivering up to 338 horsepower – significantly more powerful than the FWD version. The driving range remains impressive, reaching approximately 459 km on a single charge.
The top-of-the-line Uncharted GT, priced at $43,795 (approximately 1.143 billion VND), features a panoramic sunroof, 20-inch gunmetal grey wheels, and an optional two-tone exterior (for an additional $970). The interior is enhanced with heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a digital rearview mirror with integrated HomeLink. Although the Subaru Uncharted GT shares the same powertrain as the Sport version, due to its heavier weight and larger wheels, the GT has a shorter driving range – only about 435 km on a single charge.
