2 challenges of Rang Dong before digital transformation and the Viettel handshake
In 2019, despite clearly recognizing the role of digital transformation in the future of the business, Mr. Nguyen Doan Thang, General Director of Rang Dong, still had concerns before deciding to digitally transform the entire Rang Dong: afraid of failure like 80-90% of digital transformation businesses at that time.
But Rang Dong had another bigger fear, which was the fear of falling behind. So, the board of directors made a decision and Rang Dong has achieved remarkable results after more than three years of implementation, with revenue, profit, and average income of employees all growing strongly.
One of Rang Dong's companions in this process is Viettel Group, directly represented by its member unit Viettel Solutions.

From the strategic cooperation documents signed in 2021-2022, Viettel is both a business partner of Rang Dong with products in the fields of construction and telephones, and also effectively supports Rang Dong in creating a smart factory ecosystem with Viettel Cloud and DataLake platforms, building a solid digital infrastructure with 5G and IoT networks, helping Rang Dong digitize the production process, ensuring stable connections and low latency.
The two sides also cooperated in developing MES/SCADA systems, personalization for real-time monitoring, optimizing operations and effectively managing LED production lines. Viettel Solutions also supported Rang Dong in deploying multi-layered security solutions, protecting R&D data and training cybersecurity teams.
At the same time, the two sides will jointly research and test technologies such as AI product defect image analysis, transportation robots, and warehouse automation. Cooperation will expand beyond the scope of production, moving towards building an ecosystem of smart lighting, smart homes, and smart cities.
Both are enterprises with heroic traditions, but Rang Dong started out as an enterprise producing “Internet money”, with a culture associated with traditional production, while Viettel is an enterprise born from technology, with a cultural foundation of innovation and creativity.
“Both similarities and differences help the two sides to cooperate closely and sustainably as they are now. Rang Dong is implementing a dual transformation, combining digital transformation (at a higher level than AI transformation) and green transformation, aiming for sustainable development with a green environment, green products, green production, green consumption, we need to accompany strategic partners in the technology field, especially digital technology like Viettel. Accompanying and standing on the shoulders of giants, the company will reach the right destination and faster,” Mr. Tran Tuan Duong, Director of Rang Dong's Data Center and Digital Operations, emphasized.
Digital transformation is not a destination, but the beginning of a bigger journey
Rang Dong is currently facing three risks. One is competition from imported goods and production, two is the rapid development of technology and AI, and three is the strong development of new business models from foreign corporations. All require Rang Dong to adapt quickly and act early.
Following the success of the 2020-2024 digital transformation phase, Rang Dong identifies AI transformation as a top priority and a key pillar for the new “digital and green” production method. The company focuses on three core strategies: optimizing the supply chain and making decisions with big data, expanding digital business through e-commerce and personalized customer experiences, and developing sustainable products integrating IoT, Big Data and AI, meeting the needs of smart, green living.
In 2025, Rang Dong will promote synchronous breakthroughs, from product design with five attributes: intelligence, personalization, platformization, co-creation, greening to flexible, intelligent production and seamless marketing.
In cooperation with Viettel, Rang Dong will build a digital operations center that integrates company-wide data, deploys personalized industrial AI solutions and multi-layered security, 24/7 monitoring to ensure safe operations, and a digital platform for human resource management, training connection and talent development, will also be put into operation.

Rang Dong determines that digital transformation not only optimizes operations but also creates new values, from smart products to contributions to a sustainable society. The company will also cooperate with startups and research institutes to create breakthroughs, while stimulating internal creativity, steadfastly promoting internal strength and the spirit of “Make in Vietnam”.
“With the goal of becoming a high-tech enterprise by 2030, operating intelligently based on data and innovation, Rang Dong hopes to develop rapidly and sustainably with an annual growth rate of 20-25%, aiming to be in the top 120 Vietnamese enterprises with billion-dollar revenue, achieving profits of over 100 million USD,” the leader of this enterprise added.
