According to Reuters , Vietjet will sign an agreement with AV Air Finance Company – a partner of KKR – at the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington, D.C., on April 9th, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc. This is a financing agreement to support the airline's aircraft purchase.

Previously, according to the Government Information Portal , Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc was scheduled to visit the United States starting on April 6th.

At the upcoming event, Vietjet leaders will also meet with representatives from aircraft manufacturer Boeing to discuss strategic cooperation and reaffirm their commitment to expanding the partnership.

Vietjet agreed to purchase 200 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in an agreement first signed in 2016, but none have yet been delivered. Reuters sources revealed that Vietjet is also considering ordering an additional 20 Boeing 787s.

Two other sources also indicated that both Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines are in negotiations to purchase additional aircraft, but did not disclose the supplier.

Recently, the White House announced a reciprocal tariff policy, including a 46% tariff on goods from Vietnam. On the evening of April 4th, during a phone call with US President Donald Trump, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam is ready to discuss reducing import tariffs on US goods to 0%.

The General Secretary also stated that Vietnam needs to import more goods from the United States, and affirmed that he will encourage and create favorable conditions for American companies to increase investment in Vietnam.

The two leaders affirmed that they would discuss and work towards signing a bilateral cooperation agreement between the two countries soon, in order to concretize the aforementioned commitments.

Sharing on the social media platform Truth Social shortly afterward, US President Donald Trump also stated that he had a very productive phone call with General Secretary To Lam. "On behalf of the nation, I thanked him, and I told him that I look forward to a meeting in the near future," President Trump wrote.

During a meeting with dozens of strategic partners from around the world at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in the US from January 9-11, Vietjet's senior leadership team announced that the airline is in the process of reaching strategic agreements with leading corporations such as Boeing, GE, CFM, Pratt & Whitney, and Honeywell, with a total value of nearly $50 billion. In addition, collaborations worth approximately $14 billion are also under discussion. These agreements will directly create nearly 500,000 jobs in the US.

At the same time, Vietjet also collaborates with leading technology corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Service, Apple, Google, etc.

At that time, the Vietnamese airline also revealed it was in negotiations with Elon Musk's SpaceX and several other providers of in-flight internet technology solutions to serve its fleet of hundreds of aircraft, boost its high-tech workforce, and usher in a new era of innovation.
