Thanh Hoa bamboo products reach international level

Thanh Hoa currently has 78,000 hectares of bamboo and rattan with an output of about 193 million trees/year. The annual production value reaches about 570 billion VND, accounting for 28.2% of the forestry industry's production value. Grasping the development trend, localities and bamboo and rattan production and processing facilities in Thanh Hoa have made efforts to find and develop consumption markets, gradually reduce raw products and aim to produce, process and export refined products for high economic efficiency.

The province currently has 37 bamboo and rattan product manufacturing and processing establishments, which are enterprises and cooperatives, with a total processing capacity of about 200,000 tons of raw materials/year, accounting for 16.7% of the province's average annual bamboo exploitation output. In addition, there are hundreds of household manufacturing and processing establishments. The main products manufactured and processed are chopsticks, toothpicks, votive paper, paper materials, plywood, bamboo strips, etc. Thanh Hoa province is particularly interested in creating favorable conditions to attract businesses to invest in this field.

Currently, the export market for bamboo products of Thanh Hoa province is mainly concentrated in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan (China), Malaysia, Europe, North America... Thanh Hoa strives to have 85% of bamboo products consumed domestically by 2025, 15% exported, and by 2030, 75% of bamboo products consumed domestically, 25% exported.
