There will soon be more than 850,000m3 of sand serving Cao Lanh Expressway.

On September 19, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Project Manager, VNCN Investment - Construction and Engineering Joint Stock Company, said that the contractor has been granted an additional sand mine to serve the construction of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, component project 1, section through Dong Thap province.

In early October, the fourth sand mine granted by Dong Thap province for the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway will be exploited.

This sand mine covers an area of ​​33.96 hectares located on Tien River in Ward 11 and Tan Thuan Tay Commune, Cao Lanh City (Dong Thap). The sand reserve at the mine is about 1.5 million m3.

The entire mineral reserves allowed to be included in the mining design, calculated at a depth of 17m, is 855,212m3, and will only be provided for the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, component project 1, section passing through Dong Thap province.

After exploiting enough volume to supply the project, the contractor is responsible for performing obligations to rehabilitate and restore the environment, handing over the mineral mine and land to local management.

"Up to this point, the contractor has basically completed the relevant documents and procedures and it is expected that in early October, the sand mine will be exploited to serve the construction of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, component project 1, the section through Dong Thap province," said Mr. Tuan.

Previously, Dong Thap province also granted the contractor three sand mines including: The first sand mine is in Tan Thuan Dong commune, Cao Lanh city; My An Hung A commune and My An Hung B commune, Lap Vo district.

The second sand mine is located in Thuong Lac commune, Long Khanh A, Hong Ngu district and An Lac ward, Hong Ngu city. The third sand mine is located in An Hiep and An Nhon communes, Chau Thanh district.

Currently, these three sand mines are being urgently exploited by the contractor and the sand is being brought to the construction site to serve the highway construction according to regulations.

Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway, component project 1, section through Dong Thap province started construction at the end of June 2023 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2025. To date, the total project implementation volume has reached about 38%.

Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway starts at the intersection with My An - Cao Lanh Expressway in Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province. Ends at the intersection with Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province.
The project is divided into 2 components, Component 1 is 16km long, passing through Dong Thap province, with a total investment of over 3,600 billion VND. Component 2 is 11.4km long, located in Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces, with an investment of over 2,200 billion VND.
The scale of the completed phase cross-section meets the standards of a four-lane highway. The cross-section of phase 1 is divided into four lanes, with a roadbed width of 17m and an operating speed of 80km/h.
