The second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange is about to take place.

On the morning of November 5, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a press meeting to introduce the second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc, Director of the Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) chaired the meeting.

Also attending were Major General Leang Sovannara, Cambodian Military Attaché in Vietnam and representatives of several agencies and units of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.

In his opening speech, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc affirmed that, on the basis of the successful organization of the first Border Defense Friendship Exchange in 2022 by the Ministries of National Defense of Vietnam and Cambodia in the border area of Binh Phuoc province (old) of Vietnam and Kratie province of Cambodia, this Exchange is one of the key defense foreign affairs events and activities in 2025 of the Ministries of National Defense and the armies of the two countries.

Scheduled to take place from November 12-14, 2025 in the common border area of the two countries (Tay Ninh province, Vietnam and Svay Rieng province, Cambodia), the success of the Exchange will demonstrate the solidarity, friendship, tradition, and good comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam-Cambodia, Cambodia-Vietnam; directly contributing to strengthening political trust, promoting cooperation, especially between the border management and protection forces, local authorities and people in the border areas of the two countries in a practical and effective manner, building a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and developing Vietnam-Cambodia border.

Regarding the Exchange program, Colonel Dang Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of National Defense) said that the main activities planned to be held in Vietnam include the official welcoming ceremony for the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia; planting friendship trees; joint military medical exercise between the two countries' armies; inauguration ceremony of the Ben Cau Primary School boarding area (Thuan Lam hamlet, Ben Cau commune, Tay Ninh province); twinning ceremony of the residential clusters on both sides of the border between Long Cuong hamlet (Long Thuan commune, Tay Ninh province, Vietnam) and O Ta Mo hamlet (Mon No Rum commune, Svay Teap district, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia); talks and signing of cooperation documents between the two Ministries of National Defense; visiting the Traditional House of Division 5 (Military Region 7).

In Cambodia, the main activities include the welcoming ceremony and farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese Minister of National Defense; the salute ceremony and the vermilioning of the 171st Sovereignty Marker; friendship tree planting; joint patrol between the border management and protection forces of the two countries; the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sang Sovan Primary School (Svay Teap district, Svay Rieng province); and a visit to the headquarters of the Svay Rieng Provincial Gendarmerie Command.

In addition, before the official exchange, there will be activities such as the two countries' military medical staff coordinating to examine, treat and provide free medicine to people on both sides of the border; and an exchange between young border officers of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Contributing to the overall success of the Exchange, the young officer exchange activity demonstrated the consistency and unanimity of Vietnamese and Cambodian authorities in border management and protection, strengthening the trust of the people, border guards and authorities.

The Vietnam-Cambodia border young officer exchange will have the participation of 30 young officers from the Royal Cambodian Army Command and 30 young Vietnamese officers from the Army and Police forces currently performing duties in the border areas of the two countries, especially the Border Guard force.

The young officers together carried out typical activities such as: planting trees for youth friendship; sports exchanges; participating in activities to popularize and educate the law for people in the areas on both sides of the border; and political and art exchange talks./.
