The high-altitude fireworks display welcoming the new year 2025 brought a joyful atmosphere to the people of Ho Chi Minh City. However, after the wonderful New Year's Eve moment, a sad problem was revealed: garbage was everywhere.

As much fun as watching fireworks is, seeing trash everywhere is sad!
The Bach Dang Wharf area (District 1), where many people and tourists gather to watch the fireworks, is filled with all kinds of trash such as plastic packaging, plastic cups, pieces of cardboard used by people to sit on the ground, soft drink cans as well as pieces of confetti shot from a music event of a brand.
Mr. Trieu (living in District 1) and his family went to watch the high-altitude fireworks at Bach Dang Wharf and shared: "I feel very sad because people litter so much this year! Wherever I go, my feet step on pieces of cardboard left by people. If everyone were a little more aware, this kind of messy scene wouldn't happen."
On Nguyen Hue walking street and surrounding streets, the situation is no better. Thousands of people gathered to participate in a "countdown" music event, leaving behind a significant amount of trash. Leftover food and plastic waste flooded the streets.

Each person is a little more aware, the person "cleaning up the mess" will have less trouble.
Mr. Quy, an employee of District 1 Public Service Company Limited, shared with Tuoi Tre Online about the garbage collection situation after the fireworks night: "We mobilized more than 10 garbage trucks to serve the collection work in the Bach Dang wharf area and Nguyen Hue walking street. The amount of garbage this year is more than previous years. The main reason is due to the promotional programs of neighboring stores and street vending activities that attract a lot of people.
In particular, confetti from a fireworks display by a promotional organizer significantly slowed down the cleanup process. Food and drinks were spilled on the ground and stuck to the confetti, making cleaning much more difficult. Workers had to use hard brooms and water to clean up, which took more time. Despite the hardship, we were determined to complete the job to restore the city to its clean beauty early in the morning on New Year's Day."
In addition to the cleaning groups, some young people and foreign tourists also stayed at Bach Dang Wharf to help clean up the trash after the fireworks display. Ms. Dulani (from Sri Lanka) said that she felt sorry that many people lacked awareness of littering, making it harder for many cleaning workers on the first day of the year. She and her friends hope that everyone needs to raise awareness and join hands to ensure the city is always clean and beautiful, especially after major events that attract a large number of tourists .
