The MLS summer transfer window opens on July 18th and closes on August 14th. Defender Sergio Ramos' contract with Sevilla expires on June 30th. The 38-year-old star is being offered a one-season extension by the Spanish club with a salary of approximately $4.3 million.
Sergio Ramos chose to move to the US with an incredibly high salary.
"However, a very attractive offer of up to $12 million per year from the soon-to-be-released MLS club San Diego FC is causing Sergio Ramos to change his mind and consider playing in the US in the near future, thus passing up any opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia," the Spanish newspaper AS revealed on June 1st.
"San Diego FC officials will travel to Spain in the near future to persuade Sergio Ramos and make him the first major signing in the club's history. Furthermore, Sevilla's coach, Quique Sanchez Flores, is reportedly unwilling to retain an aging player like Sergio Ramos, hoping the club will recruit a more suitable new center-back," AS added.
If he agrees to join San Diego FC, Sergio Ramos will be among the highest-paid players in the MLS, alongside Messi, who currently earns $20.4 million per year.
According to AS : "The future of veteran striker Di Maria (who is about to leave Benfica on June 30th) has now ruled out any possibility of returning to Argentina to play for Rosario Central due to concerns about family security."
Di Maria has decided to join Inter Miami to reunite with Messi right after the Copa America. Inter Miami has now made room for Di Maria's debut in the near future, as they will be parting ways with Finnish midfielder Robert Taylor (29 years old, whose contract is expiring at the end of this year and will not be renewed).
Robert Taylor is about to leave Inter Miami...
Di Maria could join after the Copa America and reunite with Messi.
"Robert Taylor is currently playing as one of Inter Miami's three foreign players. Releasing one of these spots is to make room for Di Maria, freeing up playing time and salary cap space. Furthermore, David Beckham's team would also recoup approximately $1.5 million if they transfer Robert Taylor to another MLS club during the upcoming summer transfer window opening on July 18th," AS reported.
Robert Taylor joined Inter Miami in February 2022 and has since scored 15 goals and provided 16 assists in a total of 93 games. He has also won the hearts of Inter Miami fans due to his repeated refusals to return to the Finnish national team in order to serve his club.
However, this player will soon have to make way for the renowned Di Maria, a close friend of captain Messi, who is about to join Inter Miami right after the Copa America (which takes place from June 20 to July 14).
