Exciting competition for skilled workers in the coal industry

In order to evaluate the skills and find outstanding workers to participate in the 12th Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group Skilled Workers Competition (expected to take place in the third quarter of 2023), currently, units under TKV are urgently organizing exams, reviewing and training for candidates. The competition has created a vibrant competitive atmosphere throughout the industry and contributed significantly to the process of building and training a team of skilled workers with solid theory and good practice.

Ha Long Coal Company has just organized the 2023 Company-level Skilled Worker Competition. Previously, on May 21, 2023, 92 candidates from the company's workshops passed the preliminary round (theoretical test). Through the preliminary round, the Company selected 46 excellent candidates to enter the practical test, industrial style in 3 main occupational groups including: Mining, mine construction and mine electromechanics.

Attending the Company-level Skilled Worker Competition for the first time in the basic tunneling skills content, worker Lu Seo Binh, Tunneling Workshop 1 (Ha Long Coal Company), said: This year, the theoretical and practical content of the competition are closely related to the practical daily work. The competition is a very useful playground, a measure for us to evaluate our professional skills. Not only that, through the Company-level Skilled Worker Competition, we also have the opportunity to share basic knowledge in the profession with colleagues. At the same time, we practice working style skills, effective teamwork, ensuring safety and productivity.

Mr. Do Van Hung, Chairman of the Trade Union of Ha Long Coal Company, said: Ha Long Coal Company is striving to become the largest underground coal production unit of TKV. The huge work pressure requires workers to always strive to raise awareness, responsibility, industrial style and safety in work. Organizing this contest will help the unit find good and typical factors to commend, reward and replicate, creating motivation to promote the emulation movement in labor production. At the same time, constantly compete to study, practice to improve knowledge, be solid in expertise and good in skills; have enough capacity to master technology in tunneling and coal mining, access and operate modern equipment. Thereby, the Company also has a basis to evaluate the quality of the workforce to foster, train to improve and promote the labor movement to achieve productivity, quality, efficiency and safety.

Duong Huy Coal Company has also successfully organized the 2023 Company-level Skilled Worker Competition. After more than 1 month of serious training and after the theoretical exam held on May 10, 2023, the Company selected 66 candidates who achieved the required scores to participate in the practical and industrial style exams.

Mr. Tran Manh Cuong, Director of Duong Huy Coal Company, said: Recently, the Company is aiming to build a "Green mine - clean mine - modern mine" and apply "3 transformations" to production lines. Through the Company-level Skilled Worker Competition, we aim to discover and search for examples of skilled workers, thereby fostering and training to improve technical expertise to have many skilled workers to serve the development requirements of the Company. Compared to previous years, the quality of candidates this year is assessed to be higher, with good technical skills, high industrial style and the ability to skillfully apply new technology, modern equipment, and a creative spirit in the emulation movement. Immediately after organizing the Company-level Skilled Worker Competition, the Company selected the 19 best candidates to continue training to prepare for the 12th Group-level Skilled Worker Competition in 2023.

At this time, the skilled worker competition is also taking place enthusiastically at a number of other units such as: Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, Uong Bi Coal Company, Nam Mau Coal Company... Up to now, the units have been proactive in preparing the best conditions for workers to participate in the competition, ensuring safety for people and equipment. It is expected that from now until the end of June 2023, the units will complete the Company-level skilled worker competition to select candidates who have achieved the title of skilled worker and excellent to participate in the 12th Group-level competition which will take place in the third quarter of this year. According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee of the Group-level skilled worker competition, through the company-level competition, the quality of the candidates participating this year is assessed to be very even, demonstrating many creative skills, applied practically in the production process.
