Son Duong draws experience in forest fire prevention and fighting

- On the morning of May 27, the People's Committee of Son Duong district held a conference to disseminate information on forest management and protection and draw lessons on forest fire prevention and fighting for 19 communes and towns in the upper district.

Representatives of villages and communes attended the conference.

Attending the conference were leaders of the Provincial Museum; Provincial Tourist Area Management Board; Son Duong District Forest Protection Department; Tam Dao National Park; representatives of Phu Dinh Commune, Dinh Hoa District (Thai Nguyen); leaders of the District People's Committee; 426 delegates who were leaders of Party Committees, People's Committees of communes, commune police chiefs, commune Military Command, Party cell secretaries, village chiefs, and village team leaders.

The delegates were informed by representatives of the District Forest Protection Department about the management, protection, and prevention and fighting of forest fires, and learned from experiences in forest fire prevention and fighting from forest fires that have occurred in the area.

In the first 4 months of the year, coordination between forces and patrolling work was carried out regularly and continuously. The People's Committees of communes and forest owners have strengthened the implementation of solutions to limit acts of encroachment on forest resources in managed forest areas; Violations of the Forestry Law were basically controlled. Violations were detected and strictly handled in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The District Forest Protection Department organized 30 propaganda sessions for over 2,123 participants; 101 propaganda sessions on the wireless loudspeaker system for 508,545 listeners; implemented concentrated forest planting using socialized resources on 867.8 hectares, equal to 45.6% of the assigned target. Due to prolonged dry weather, 3 forest fires occurred in the area, causing damage to more than 10 hectares of forest.

In the coming time, Son Duong District Forest Protection Department recommends that communes and towns accelerate forest planting within the seasonal framework; do a good job of managing, protecting, preventing and fighting forest fires, and propagating to raise awareness in forest management and protection.
