Currently, Song Ma commune has 3 licensed mineral mines (often construction sand). Since July 1, after implementing the two-level local government model, the commune has strengthened the management of mineral resources in the area.

During this time, coinciding with the rainy season, the water level of rivers and streams rises, so mineral exploitation enterprises temporarily stop their operations. However, the commune still directs the Commune Police and the Construction Order Management Team to regularly patrol, grasp the situation of mineral activities, promptly detect, prevent and handle illegal mineral exploration, exploitation, trading and transportation from the beginning. When detecting signs of violations, the functional forces coordinate with relevant units to prevent them.

At the same time, advise the Commune People's Committee to report in writing to the Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Agriculture and Environment for monitoring and handling according to regulations. From July 1 to now, the commune has not detected any violations.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Vice Chairman of Song Ma Commune People's Committee, said: The commune's viewpoint is to resolutely handle illegal exploitation and at the same time strengthen propaganda to raise awareness among people and businesses about protecting resources. This is an important resource, but if exploited improperly, it will leave long-term consequences.

Previously, many households living along the Ma River used to take advantage of the dry season to dredge sand and mine on a small scale for construction purposes. However, after being informed and signing a commitment not to mine illegally, these households have now strictly complied with regulations on mineral exploitation.

Quynh Ngoc Joint Stock Company is one of two enterprises licensed to exploit minerals in the commune. The company has focused on investing in modern mining equipment systems, ensuring labor safety and fully implementing tax and resource fee obligations as prescribed.

The company also installed a surveillance camera system and arranged for staff to regularly count the number of vehicles entering and leaving the mine to avoid loss of resources. The unit's mining activities are inspected and monitored by specialized agencies to ensure correct coordinates, area, reserves and licensed capacity.

In addition, the enterprise strictly implements the contents of the environmental impact assessment report, strictly complies with technical procedures, ensures mine safety and labor safety, and fully fulfills financial obligations as prescribed by law.

Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Director of Cat Song Ma Branch, Quynh Ngoc Joint Stock Company, said: The company has 2 mining sites in Song Ma commune that are allowed to exploit. We are well aware of the responsibility in exploitation that must be associated with environmental protection. The company regularly coordinates with the commune government in restoring the ground, planting trees and dredging the riverbed according to the plan, avoiding landslides.

To improve the effectiveness of mineral resource management in the area, the People's Committee of Song Ma commune has issued a document directing villages and residential groups to propagate and mobilize people to participate in monitoring and promptly report violations in the management and exploitation of mineral resources in the area and request households and individuals to commit to not participating in illegal exploitation, purchase, sale, storage and transportation of minerals.

In addition to management work, Song Ma commune encourages businesses to apply resource-saving mining technology, limit emissions, and use local labor to create jobs and increase income for people. Every year, mineral mining and processing activities contribute to the local budget, supporting the construction of civil works such as roads, cultural houses, schools, etc.

In the coming time, the commune will continue to strictly implement the provisions of the Law on Minerals and guiding documents, linking resource management with environmental protection, preserving ecological landscapes, serving the goal of sustainable socio-economic development.
