The Danang Innovation and Startup Festival - SURF 2024 will open at the end of August 2024 at the University of Science and Technology (University of Danang) with the theme "Reaching Creativity - Connecting the World". The event is expected to gather the participation of many elements in the innovation and startup ecosystem. This is an opportunity to connect and support startup projects in the area and region to seek business opportunities, promote products and services, invest and recruit; gradually forming a community of angel investors, venture capital funds, and startup communities in Danang. Up to now, preparations for the event have been basically completed.
According to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), with the message "Da Nang - City of innovation", SURF 2024 will have many special activities, creating highlights in the series of events, specifically: virtual reality exhibition; live booth; online and live innovation startup competition; matching (connecting) investors and startups; international seminars and talks with the topics "Opportunities for semiconductor chip startups and pioneering technology", "Model and network for developing student startup clubs" ... creating opportunities for elements in the city's innovation startup ecosystem to share knowledge, experience, the latest research in the field, access new ideas, advanced technology methods.
Within the framework of the event, the Da Nang - Singapore and Da Nang - Korea Innovation Investment Connection Forum will be an opportunity for experts, researchers, and managers to exchange ideas, discuss, identify problems, opportunities, and challenges that the ecosystem is facing, thereby proposing appropriate solutions, strategies, and policies to promote the development of the innovation startup ecosystem. At SURF 2024, the Department of Science and Technology will launch the Da Nang - Singapore Innovation Space, creating conditions for Da Nang startups to connect and cooperate with Singapore startups.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Le Thi Thuc said that SURF is an annual event organized by the city, creating an environment for exchange and connection between investment funds, investors, experts with the startup community, elements in the domestic and international innovation startup ecosystem; helping startups and businesses have the opportunity to cooperate, share experiences and find new partners in the field. The event also creates a space for businesses and the startup community in Da Nang to express and develop creative ideas, promote new projects; create opportunities for startups to approach funds and investors to receive capital, financial support and connect resources. At the same time, building a strong startup community, creating a network of connections between elements in the innovation startup ecosystem, an environment to support and encourage the development of the startup community; Inspire, encourage and support startups and young people to contribute to the overall development of the startup ecosystem in Da Nang and the region.
“The theme of SURF 2024 emphasizes the elements of creativity and global connection with many attractive and diverse contents. The event will create an impressive highlight in the process of building and positioning Da Nang on the world startup map; creating opportunities for startups to connect and access resources, knowledge, and experience, thereby increasing competitiveness, cooperation and product development, expanding domestic and international markets,” Ms. Le Thi Thuc shared.
| The innovation startup competition within the framework of SURF 2024 will take place in 2 rounds with a scale of about 50 projects/startups participating. Projects need to meet criteria such as innovation, technology; the necessity of the product for market demand; uniqueness, creativity, different value of the product; situation, competitive advantage; revenue model... It is expected that on August 29 and 30, the 10 best selected projects will participate in presenting ideas and connecting with investment. Projects winning First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes will receive prizes including cash and in-kind; at the same time, will be considered for support to participate in the Vietnam Korea Startups Exchange Program. |
