Under the authorization of the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, the competition was organized by the Hanoi Taekwondo Federation in coordination with the Taekwondo Department - Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center in a methodical and serious manner, reflecting the spirit of professionalization in the city's martial arts movement.
Within the framework of the program, 490 martial artists, including 341 1st-degree martial artists, 126 2nd-degree martial artists and 23 3rd-degree martial artists, underwent technical, sparring and physical tests.
The exam was graded online, following the national digital transformation process implemented by the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, marking a modernization effort in the management and assessment of martial arts students' abilities.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Hanoi Taekwondo Federation Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: This is a competition organized in a systematic and professional manner, contributing to helping coaches and martial artists become more aware of their responsibilities, discipline as well as martial arts spirit. "It is important to let the movement develop from a technical and organizational foundation," Mr. Hung affirmed.
According to Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, Head of Taekwondo Department of Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, Vice President and General Secretary of Hanoi Taekwondo Federation, annual promotion exams help the Federation grasp the quality of the movement, thereby discovering and nurturing outstanding factors.
However, Mr. Tuan also frankly admitted that Vietnamese Taekwondo is showing signs of slowing down due to the lack of international training opportunities, which limits athletes' exposure and competition experience.
A notable highlight is the newly upgraded facilities of Taekwondo Hanoi with a living area that meets “3-star hotel” standards, fully equipped with televisions, washing machines, and refrigerators, helping athletes feel secure in their long-term training.
The city is also actively seeking highly qualified foreign experts who are committed to long-term companionship and enthusiasm in the journey of training a generation of top athletes in the new training cycle.
However, a major challenge remains the “drain of talent”. Many excellent athletes, even continental medalists, have changed their career path after graduating from high school due to lack of support from their families.
"If parents do not see a sustainable future for sports, it will be very difficult to retain their children," Mr. Tuan shared.
From now until the end of the year, Hanoi Taekwondo will focus on the winter training cycle, strengthening physical strength and competitive spirit to prepare for the 2026 tournaments. With close coordination between the Department and the Federation, Hanoi Taekwondo is gradually affirming its methodical development strategy - standardizing the movement, expanding the training network, retaining talent and investing in the top - towards the goal of reaching international level.
With 26 athletes participating in the Vietnam Taekwondo team participating in the 17th Southeast Asian Championship 2025 recently held in Khanh Hoa , Hanoi martial artists brought home 14 out of a total of 43 Gold Medals, contributing to affirming Vietnam's top position in the regional international tournament.
