Strengthening National Assembly cooperation, contributing to deepening and making more effective Vietnam - Uzbekistan relations

Emphasizing that Vietnam and Uzbekistan still have much room and potential for cooperation, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and House of Representatives Chairman Nuriddin Ismoilov agreed that the two countries' National Assemblies need to strengthen their role in supervising the implementation of agreements, contributing to deepening and making bilateral relations more effective.

As reported by the People's Representative Newspaper, on the morning of October 27, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Chairman of the Legislative Institute (Lower House) of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov on the occasion of leading the Uzbekistan delegation to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime recently held in Hanoi .

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure to meet again with Speaker of the House of Representatives Nuriddin Ismoilov after his very successful official visit to Uzbekistan and attendance at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in April 2025; and thanked Uzbekistan for the warm welcome given to the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation during the visit.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked Uzbekistan for attending the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime; emphasizing that this demonstrates Uzbekistan's strong commitment to join the international community in fighting against this new type of crime, while affirming the close ties and traditional friendship between Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully sent greetings and regards to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam for the first time and attending the opening signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention; and conveyed the greetings of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Speaker of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva to Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nurridin Ismailov congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the Opening Ceremony of the Signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime; affirming that the fact that many countries sent high-ranking representatives to attend showed the international community's recognition and appreciation of Vietnam's role in global issues, especially cyber security.

The two Presidents stressed the importance of the Opening Ceremony for Signature of the Convention hosted by Vietnam, considering it a commitment of global significance to the common development and prosperity of mankind.

President Nuriddin Ismoilov expressed his deep impression upon witnessing Vietnam’s dynamic development and congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in recent times in developing the country, enhancing its position and prestige in the international arena, and improving people’s lives.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the Uzbekistani people for their wholehearted support for Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and in the current national construction and development; and affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to relations with traditional friends, including Uzbekistan.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the role of the Uzbekistan National Assembly, especially the Legislative Institute, in implementing the country's domestic and foreign policies; he hoped that the two countries would strengthen cooperation in the coming time for mutual development and to respond to the current international situation.

Emphasizing that the two countries still have much room and potential to promote cooperation, the two Chairmen agreed that the two countries' National Assemblies need to continue to cooperate closely and strengthen their role in supervising the implementation of agreements reached and documents signed during the official visit to Uzbekistan by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in April 2025.

The two Presidents agreed to strengthen supervision, urge and support the Governments, ministries, branches and localities of the two countries to cooperate in areas where both sides have strengths and needs such as: economy - trade, oil and gas, agriculture, culture, tourism, logistics, transportation...; enhance the role of the Intergovernmental Committee on economic - trade and science - technology cooperation. The two sides promote the bridging role of Friendship Parliamentary Groups and specialized Committees in enhancing exchanges, understanding and connection, as well as exchanging professional information between National Assembly deputies of the two countries.

The two Presidents acknowledged the active and effective coordination between the two countries' parliaments in the international arena; agreed to promote cooperation at inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)..., and increase delegation participation in multilateral parliamentary activities held in each country, contributing to deepening and making more effective the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
