Through travel apps developed in partnership with low-cost airlines, Vietnam and the Philippines are strengthening their tourism connections.

The Philippines, a beautiful island nation in Southeast Asia, is one of the top destinations for Vietnamese tourists. According to the Philippine Department of Tourism, in the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam ranked 15th among 233 countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting the Philippines. In December 2023, Cebu Pacific (CEB) also launched a direct flight connecting Manila, the capital of the Philippines, with Da Nang , Vietnam, with a frequency of 3 flights per day.

Traveloka, a leading travel platform in Southeast Asia, has announced a strategic partnership with Philippine low-cost airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) to attract more international tourists to the country. Accordingly, Traveloka has implemented an application programming interface (API), allowing international travelers to easily search for CEB flights on the Traveloka platform.

In line with Traveloka's commitment to supporting the Southeast Asian tourism industry's post-pandemic recovery, this initiative promises to make a positive contribution to the growth of the Philippine tourism industry by making it easier for foreign tourists to explore the country's attractive destinations.

The Philippine tourism industry continues to achieve impressive results year after year. The Philippine Department of Tourism recorded over 5.4 million international tourists in 2023 and aims to welcome 7.7 million international tourists in 2024.

Meanwhile, Traveloka also recorded a 2.5-fold increase in searches for the top 5 airports in the Philippines in 2024 compared to the same period last year. The five most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines on Traveloka's platform include Manila, Laguindingan, Cebu, Davao, Boracay, and Palawan.

Iko Putera, Director of Transportation at Traveloka, said: "Traveloka recognizes the enormous potential of the Philippines in developing sustainable tourism. Therefore, we invite travelers from Indonesia and Southeast Asia to the Philippines to discover new travel experiences."

Partnering with Cebu Pacific, one of the leading airlines offering the most affordable prices in the Philippines, will provide travelers with a wider range of choices while pioneering innovation to deliver optimal solutions for our customers. We also contribute to the growth of the Philippine tourism industry in particular and the region in general."

Mr. Xander Lao, Chairman and Chief Commercial Officer of Cebu Pacific, shared: "We are delighted to partner with Traveloka to support the local tourism industry and make traveling to the Philippines easier."

The Philippines boasts some of the world's most beautiful beaches, along with picturesque landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. We encourage travelers worldwide to fly with Cebu Pacific and experience the beauty of this country. This is now even more accessible through our partnership with Traveloka.

The Philippines has long been a favorite destination for travelers, offering a diverse range of attractions and experiences that allow for personalized vacations, whether you're an adventurous traveler or simply looking for a relaxing getaway.

From scuba diving and coral viewing amidst the underwater wonders of Coron Island in Palawan, to relaxing on the stunning white sand beaches of the famous Boracay Island, the Philippines has an experience to suit every taste.

Meanwhile, the historic city of Vigan, dating back to the 16th century, with its blend of Philippine and Spanish architectural wonders, promises to attract history enthusiasts with its timeless charm.

Visitors can also enjoy the peace and tranquility of Bohol's natural scenery, experience thrilling activities in Davao, or savor some delicious Filipino cuisine in Bacolod. Art lovers can also admire unique collections at the National Art Museum and the National Museum of Natural History in Manila.

For those seeking a spiritual experience, visitors can visit Manila Church and San Agustin Church, or explore the serene atmosphere of Quiapo Church, dedicated to the revered Black Nazarene deity. Visitors can learn more about these "hidden gems" on Traveloka.

Traveloka also recorded a significant increase, fivefold compared to the previous year, in the number of travelers from Southeast Asian countries booking CEB flights through its platform. Besides domestic travelers, Indonesian travelers were among the top six countries visiting the Philippines based on CEB flight data, followed by travelers from Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Australia.
