DestinAsian, Asia's leading travel magazine, has just announced the winners of its 18th annual Reader's Choice Awards. This annual award, organized by DestinAsian, honors outstanding destinations, hotels, airlines, and travel services in the region, based on votes from thousands of readers worldwide . The evaluation is based on service quality, travel experiences, and especially the level of customer satisfaction with the destination.
In the Best Islands category, Phu Quoc was the only representative from Vietnam to be honored, ranking 5th among the top 10 islands in Asia, up one place from its 6th position in 2024. This demonstrates the increased satisfaction of tourists visiting Phu Quoc and the improved quality of services on the island.
Phu Quoc continues to be ranked among the most amazing islands in the region and the world. |
Phu Quoc's continued exposure to international media attention demonstrates the island's undiminished popularity. Since 2023, the island has consistently been featured in the region's and the world's "best" lists from leading travel magazines. Notably, in 2024, Travel + Leisure ranked it the second most beautiful island in the world, after the renowned Maldives, surpassing other famous names in the region such as Bali and Phuket.
It's not hard to understand why Phu Quoc is becoming a rising star on the international tourism map. The Pearl Island attracts visitors with its fine white sand beaches, clear blue waters, and especially its diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna and colorful coral reefs. In particular, the southern part of the island, home to Bai Kem and Bai Sao beaches, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, with its gelato-like white sand and emerald green water, creating unforgettable experiences for visitors.

Moreover, in recent times, Phu Quoc Island has continuously added new experiences to meet the diverse needs of tourists. A prime example is Sunset Town with a series of iconic tourist attractions such as the Kissing Bridge – the world's only unique touchless bridge, the Kiss of the Sea multimedia show on the largest water screen stage in Asia, the unique Vui Phet seaside night market in Vietnam, and nightly artistic fireworks displays… Particularly, one of the most iconic experiences is riding the world's longest 3-wire cable car to Hon Thom Island. This experience was also chosen by DestinAsian to illustrate Phu Quoc when announcing its list of the 10 most beautiful islands in Asia.
Also at the 18th Reader's Choice Awards, in the Best Vietnam Resorts category, two resorts in Phu Quoc - JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort and New World Phu Quoc Resort - were honored by DestinAsian.

Among them, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort ranked first, while New World Phu Quoc ranked tenth. If JW Marriott Phu Quoc is a masterpiece designed by Bill Bensley with the theme of a fictional French university in the 1920s, New World Phu Quoc attracts families and groups of friends with villas designed in the traditional Vietnamese three-room style and inspired by coastal fishing villages, each with its own private pool. Both resorts are located on the picturesque Bai Kem beach, a hub for top-tier international resort brands.
Beyond the accolades bestowed upon it by international media, Phu Quoc has further solidified its position as an increasingly world-class destination by being chosen as the venue for the Asia- Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) in 2027. This not only marks a positive sign for the strong boom in the island's tourism industry but also presents opportunities, potential, and challenges that will help Phu Quoc rise to become a leading tourism, economic, and service hub in the region.
