After storm No. 13 made landfall, Long Phung commune was one of the most severely damaged localities in Quang Ngai province. Strong winds, heavy rains and tornadoes caused dozens of houses to have their roofs blown off and damaged, greatly affecting people's lives.
According to initial statistics, the entire Quang Ngai province has 61 houses with their roofs blown off, of which Long Phung commune alone accounts for 45 houses, concentrated in villages 7, My Khanh, Vinh Phu and Thanh Long. The level of damage ranges from 30-60%, with 3 houses having their roofs completely blown off. This area is close to the sea, with open terrain, so it was directly affected by strong winds when storm No. 13 made landfall.

Mr. Dang Thu (73 years old, living in My Khanh village) was still shocked when he recounted the moment the tornado happened on the night of November 6. “At around 6:30 p.m., I was in the house upstairs when I heard the wind howling fiercely. In less than half a minute, the roof of the house behind was blown off by the wind, tiles flying everywhere. When the wind died down, I went out to see and everything was devastated. Luckily, the house upstairs was made of concrete so it was still preserved. Having lived here since I was a child, I have never seen such a strong wind,” Mr. Thu said.
The tornado occurred when storm No. 13 approached the mainland, with strong gusts of wind, so many residents were unable to respond in time. That same night, Long Phung commune leaders were present at the affected residential areas to inspect, count the damage and mobilize initial support forces.

On the morning of November 7, hundreds of officers and soldiers of the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, Commune Police and Mobile Police were mobilized to each household whose roofs were blown off, helping people clean up, cover and re-roof their houses. Colonel Trinh Cong Son, Deputy Political Commissar of the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, said: "Immediately after receiving information about the damage, the Command mobilized 200 people, including 60 officers and soldiers on duty and local militia forces, to each village to support the people."
Among the households that suffered damage, the situation of Mrs. Vo Thi Can (76 years old, living in Thanh Long village) made many people feel sympathy. She lives alone in an old, dilapidated house. Before the storm, she evacuated to a relative's house in the village for temporary shelter. When she returned the next morning, she was shocked to see the entire front and back roofs of the house destroyed by the wind. "I don't know what to do because there are only a few people in the house. Luckily, the government and the army came to help and re-roof the house. I'm so happy. Without them, I don't know when I would have been able to repair it and live in peace," Mrs. Can said emotionally.

Mr. Tran Cong Hoa, Secretary of the Long Phung Commune Party Committee, said: "The commune government is coordinating with forces to overcome the damage caused by the storm, and at the same time reporting to superiors for timely support. We are trying to basically complete the repair of houses with blown-off roofs today, especially prioritizing poor and single-parent households so that people can soon stabilize their lives."
Storm No. 13 has passed, but its traces are still visible on the wooden roofs and the scattered corrugated iron sheets everywhere. However, with the proactive and urgent spirit of the government and functional forces and the consensus of the people, Long Phung commune is gradually recovering and making efforts to stabilize life after the storm.
