Volunteers wait to support candidates at Nguyen Trai High School. |
Although it has become a familiar image, the program “Supporting the exam season” still brings a unique atmosphere each year, with new stories and unforgettable emotions. This year, the program “Supporting the exam season for grade 10” was simultaneously deployed at 26 exam locations.
As part of this year's exam support program, youth volunteer teams have actively supported candidates in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. At the exam sites, volunteers have carried out many tasks such as guiding, distributing water, and supporting students.
Nguyen Minh Nhat, a member of Thanh Khe Tay ward, was present at the Thanh Khe High School exam site from 6am. Enthusiastic and agile, Nhat and his friends arranged drinking water, paper fans, instruction boards, and helped parents find parking spots and shade candidates. “Last summer, I was also a candidate who received support. Now that I am in a supporting position, I understand the meaning of this job even more,” Nhat shared.
At the exam site of Nguyen Trai High School, Tran Thuy Trinh, a 12/5 student of the school, who is both a senior and a companion, emotionally said: “Seeing the children walk through the school gate and then turn back to look at us, I suddenly felt so sorry. We smiled and raised our hands to signal “keep it up”. I believe a smile can also give us more courage.”
Many parents lingered longer at the school gate just to say thank you. Some quickly returned some milk cartons and water bottles, because "the children worked hard during the exam sessions, I feel sorry for them" - one parent expressed.
At the exam site of Dam Quang Trung Secondary School (Lien Chieu District), Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha was moved to see her students being enthusiastically supported by volunteers. “We always remind them of exam skills and psychology. But the companionship of volunteers brings a special feeling, the students feel they are not alone. In their eyes, I clearly see that they feel more secure when receiving encouragement from the volunteers in green shirts.”
At the Son Tra High School exam site, The Nhan, a 9th grader, shared after completing his final exam: “I was quite worried because Math is not my strong point. But before the exam, the seniors gave me water and encouraged me, so I felt less nervous. Even though it was just a few simple words, they really meant a lot to me.”
The spirit of “Wherever there is a need, there is a youth, wherever there is difficulty, there is a youth” has always been the burning flame throughout the activities of the city’s youth. Not only supporting candidates to get to the right exam location, providing free drinking water, pens, hand fans, and psychological counseling, the volunteer team also actively contributes to maintaining security and order, directing traffic, and quickly handling arising situations. The harmonious coordination with the police force and parents has created an open, gentle, and humane exam environment.
Outside the exam sites, parents sitting in the sun waiting for their children, sometimes even more worried than the students, also received thoughtful attention from volunteers. Many parents were moved when they were given free drinking water and enthusiastic guidance.
"The volunteers are very enthusiastic. Despite the hot weather, they still do not hesitate to work hard to provide drinking water for parents and students. In hot weather, receiving each bottle of cool water is so precious," said Mr. Le Nam, whose child is taking the 10th grade entrance exam at Nguyen Trai High School.
The “Supporting the Exam Season” campaign in Da Nang not only provides practical support to students and their parents, but also inspires a spirit of living beautifully in the community. From the spirit of “Ready Youth - Steadfast Students”, small actions have become a flame spreading love, responsibility and trust in the young generation.
