Thanh Hoa: Urgently overcome natural disasters to ensure the opening of the new school year

GD&TĐ - The Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just signed an official dispatch directing relevant sectors to overcome natural disasters and ensure conditions for the opening of the new school year.

Implementing the direction of the Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee on focusing on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and ensuring conditions for the opening of the new school year, on September 3, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent direction, requesting departments, branches and localities to deploy solutions to soon stabilize the situation and create the best conditions for students and teachers to enter the new school year.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with local authorities, police, military forces, and relevant units to mobilize vehicles and human resources to handle traffic jams, landslides, and flooding; promptly restore traffic to residential areas and schools. At the same time, arrange forces on duty at dangerous points to ensure safety for students and parents.

The Department of Education and Training is assigned to preside over the review and assessment of the extent of damage at educational facilities; speed up the progress of repairs, disinfection, and environmental sanitation of schools. Complete repairs before September 5, ensuring that schools are qualified to organize the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2026 as planned.

Provide material and spiritual support and encouragement to poor students and students in difficult circumstances, so that no student is unable to go to school due to natural disasters.

The Department of Finance is assigned to proactively allocate funds, prioritizing support for schools and localities that have suffered heavy damage; at the same time, advise on solutions to mobilize social resources to promptly support recovery work.

The Department of Health coordinates with localities to direct disease prevention and control in schools, support disinfection, especially in flooded and landslide-affected areas, to ensure the health of students and teachers.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested provincial departments, branches and organizations to closely coordinate with the Education sector and localities to promptly and effectively deploy tasks to overcome the consequences of natural disasters at educational institutions.

The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations were assigned to mobilize support from the community, businesses, and philanthropists to help affected families, and organize activities to encourage teachers and students, especially in disadvantaged areas isolated by natural disasters.

Commune and ward authorities are directly responsible for monitoring, supervising and implementing measures in the locality; coordinating the organization of transporting students and teachers back to school safely.
