Hai Phong City and Naju City (Jeollanam Province, Korea) promote cooperation in innovative education and international integration

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 27, the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong city had a working session with the Education Support Department of Naju city (Jeollanam province, Korea) to exchange and discuss cooperation contents in the field of education - training and cultural exchange between the two localities.

At the meeting, Director of the Department of Education and Training Bui Van Kiem gave an overview of the scale and outstanding achievements of the city's education sector. Currently, the city has about 750 educational institutions from preschool to high school and 40 vocational training institutions, with a total of more than 500,000 students. In recent years, Hai Phong has always paid special attention to education through many pioneering and humane policies. In particular, the tuition exemption policy for students from preschool to high school has been continuously implemented over the past 5 years, earlier than the plan to apply nationwide from the 2025-2026 school year according to the decision of the Politburo .

The Department's leaders said that the city is gradually developing high-quality international schools and expanding Korean language training to meet the learning needs of students, especially children of Korean experts and engineers living and working in Hai Phong . It is forecasted that in the coming time, the school system and the number of students will continue to increase, opening up many opportunities for extensive international cooperation.

Sharing at the meeting, Ms. Byeon Jeong Bin - Director of the Naju City Education Support Department said that Naju, known as the "innovative city", currently has 72 educational institutions from kindergarten to high school, along with a diverse and high-quality system of colleges, universities and vocational schools. Jeollanam Province has implemented Vietnamese language teaching at a number of educational institutions and plans to organize direct exchange programs with Vietnamese students in the near future. Naju City aims to expand educational cooperation with Hai Phong, considering this an important part of the local education sector's strategy to enhance international cooperation.

As planned, in September this year, the two sides will coordinate to organize cultural exchange activities and joint classes to create opportunities for students of both countries to learn about culture, practice language, and at the same time strengthen solidarity and friendship.

At the end of the working session, the leaders of the Education and Training sectors of the two localities agreed to promote practical cooperation contents, including: exchanging teachers, coordinating career orientation for students; at the same time, promoting cooperation in new educational fields such as digital transformation, applying artificial intelligence, developing language skills and global competencies for students. This will be an important foundation for the Hai Phong education sector to deeply integrate with international education, contributing to building a sustainable cultural - educational bridge between the young generations of the two localities.
