Can Tho - Over 300 members and youth of Can Tho City lit more than 5,200 candles at the graves of heroic martyrs.
On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024), Can Tho City Youth Union and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Can Tho City jointly organized the "Candle Lighting Ceremony" to honor heroic martyrs on the evening of July 26. At the ceremony, city leaders offered flowers and incense to the monument of the Fatherland to commemorate the heroes and martyrs; more than 300 city youth union members lit more than 5,200 candles at the graves of heroes and martyrs. Ms. Lu Thi Ngoc Anh - Secretary of Can Tho City Youth Union - informed that Can Tho youth in recent days have expressed the affection of today's young generation for families with meritorious services to the revolution. More than 15 thousand young people in Can Tho in green volunteer shirts have spread across all fronts, roads,... “Tonight, at all martyr cemeteries, memorial steles, etc. throughout the city, Can Tho youth will simultaneously organize a “Candlelighting Ceremony of Gratitude” with the motto: “Each candle - A heart - Each union member, youth 1 activity of gratitude”, the Secretary of Can Tho City Youth Union emphasized. On this occasion, the Program Organizing Committee mobilized and awarded 40 scholarships (total value of 60 million VND) to students from families with preferential policies who have overcome difficulties and studied well in Can Tho City. The feats and names of the heroic martyrs have become immortal, creating an epic that will forever be engraved in history and deeply engraved in the minds of many generations of people. The annual candle lighting ceremony is held to express gratitude and appreciation from young people to previous generations who have dedicated their youth to their homeland and country.
