For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema brought the experimental Cai Luong play Eclipse ( author: Le Duy Hanh, adapted by Nguyen Phuong, director: Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat, with the participation of Meritorious Artist Le Trung Thao and Binh Tinh) to participate and successfully "won", creating a miracle at the China - ASEAN Theatre Week in 2025.
Meritorious Artist - Director Le Nguyen Dat said: "The play Nhat Thuc is a reformed version of the experimental play Acting Alone by the late playwright Le Duy Hanh, which made a splash in the early 1990s with a solo performance by People's Artist Bach Tuyet. In 2019, with the approval of author Le Duy Hanh, I released the reformed version Nhat Thuc with a solo performance by Meritorious Artist Le Trung Thao, which also left a deep impression on the audience. Since then, I have constantly transformed and released many different versions. And this time is my 8th version, with many new points."
Bringing the Solar Eclipse to "conquer foreign lands": Burning out for the art form of Cai Luong
When she received the role in the play Eclipse from Meritorious Artist - Director Le Nguyen Dat, Binh Tinh was very pressured and worried. But after the play was completed and especially when performing on a foreign stage, Binh Tinh was excited and confident, she performed as if she "forgot herself".
In the play, Binh Tinh plays the role of a young girl who loves the art of Cai Luong theater very much. She is on a journey to learn about the origins of Cai Luong over the past 100 years. She goes to the museum, approaches old books... The images of Cai Luong's predecessors with each lyric, each dance move seem to appear, blending into the young girl's personality. In an instant, the young girl has transformed into two historical figures of Vietnam, Tong Thi Quyen and Bui Thi Xuan... The artist, when the curtain closes, still has the difficulties of life but the passion is always burning...

The role of Tong Thi Quyen in the reformed opera "Vuong Quyen" helped Binh Tinh receive a gold medal at the 2022 Capital Theater Festival and the role of Bui Thi Xuan in the play "Tay Son Nu Tuong" also helped Binh Tinh receive a gold medal at the 2024 National Reformed Theater Festival. And this time, it was the two combined roles that helped Binh Binh receive an international gold medal.
The judges commented that Binh Tinh is a small but talented actress. When she sings and performs, she has a very strange attraction, as if she was born to sing and perform Cai Luong. She is very deserving of the gold medal for this role.
Receiving 2 gold medals for the play and excellent director, Meritorious Artist - Director Le Nguyen Dat was moved: "I feel extremely happy when the play conquered the international jury and audience. I always demand more from myself in each staged version. I thank Dr. Pham Huy Quang - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema for trusting me with the honorable responsibility of 'bringing the bell to strike foreign lands' this time. Thank you to my colleagues, especially the 2 main actors of the play, who were excellent, burning themselves out for the national flag and for a 100-year-old art form of Cai Luong".

As for Meritorious Artist Le Trung Thao, who impressed the audience when he performed this version of Cai Luong alone in 2019, now with a new version and a co-star, he has more creativity and inspiration for the character. This gold medal is both a great source of pride for his profession and tears of happiness when he is praised by the international audience.
Beautiful marks on the artistic path of artist Binh Tinh
For Binh Tinh, this 5th gold medal is a great achievement, marking a turning point in her acting career with her own strength, sweat and tears for her love of reformed opera.
"When I heard the organizers announce my name as the gold medal winner, I was very surprised, because this is such a great achievement that I did not dare to dream of. This gold medal, Binh Tinh continues to dedicate to her parents, because this is also their honor. Binh Tinh also dedicates it to the Huynh Long family, the teachers, aunts and the audience who have supported and loved Binh Tinh. This is a beautiful mark on her artistic career, and at the same time, it is also a motivation for Binh Tinh to strive even harder," artist Binh Tinh confided.
